SOM-B1 cruise missile has been integrated onto Azerbaijan Air Forces’ MiG-29 and Su-25 fighters in 2018.

But no sales yet. Negotiations still in progress.

French openly support Armenia.. i think they lied to Azerbaijan. They said if our government allocate money to rebuild some churches in France, they will allow the engine, but later refused it.. basically we lost 20 millions$ just for that..
After war, almost every week, France send somebody new to get contract in rebuilding in Karabgh and our side refused them all and specifically said all ProJet not to use French company or products..
seeing how aggressive they use their power to get projects, may be Turkey should also try it.. but that would make Turkey another France)

Never trust the french. Good how Azerbaijan gave the middle finger to them.

We support armenia says the French while at the same time they are begging to be part of the rebuilding projects. Life does not work like that.

just imagine that yesterday, another 6-7 people French delegation met with our foreign minister to get approval, its their 6th visit after war.. imagine how many faces they have... how many times they try.. they do it to Arabs and think it will work with us too... they act like they dont understand what is going on...

If the French did not take sides they would have got some projects to be honest the problem is for decades the French backed the Armenians due to Armenian diaspora in France putting various politicians in their pockets.

Too bad too sad. Turks dont forget to be honest we can be very revengeful whatever treachery and backstabbing wont be forgotten for centuries.

we got Polonez Ballistic missiles with 400+ km range, its Chinese and Belarusian version of Bora missiles...
I think Azerbaijan will also buy Hisar air defense missiles when its available for exports... Also, i heard we ordered Akinji, but Turkey wants to get it first, then export. as we are not allowed to purchase jets, that's perfect for us..
Also, in Azerbaijan almost every week a Russian friendly high ranking government people get fired and got home arrest.

Does Azerbaijan operate any Airborne Early Warning and Control Systems (AEW&Cs)?

Due to the curvature of Earth, it is not possible for radars located on surface of the Earth, i.e. land or sea surface, to observe any targets beyond a certain distance.

This simplified image captures the essence of the idea.

AEW&C systems provide the opportunity to detect and track airborne objects well beyond the radar horizon of surface based radars.

As an example, it is claimed by the manufacturer that SeaFire-500 radar will be able to detect targets (of unspecified Radar Cross Section or RCS values) at a distance of (approximately) 500 km in the air and at only 80 km on the surface.

Apart from conventional AEW&C systems based on passenger jets or business/regional jet platforms, helicopters have been used for the same purpose. Some countries have proposed the use of drones for such purposes too.

My question was in relation to this idea.

What platforms are used by the different branches of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to target objects over the horizon?

Thank you for informing us about the Polonez ballistic missile systems obtained by Azerbaijan. The Chinese M-20 is said to be 280 km ranged and specifically designed to be so in order not to violate MTCR restrictions on export of missiles with ranges in excess of 300 km and 500 kg payload.

The range may be software limited which may mean that if the Chinese permit, the range can be extended further. Is there any evidence that Azerbaijan has been granted such access by the Chinese?

Chinese is not part of the MTCR. they are able to sell anything they want. they did the same to Gulf states.
we dont have any AWACS, imagine that Armenia ocupied Azerbaijani land in 1991, and immediately USA and EU sanctioned us, block any weapons sales to us, even during the war. Russia also refused. only When Turkey started to make weapons, they started to sell us. most funny part, USA still keep the sanction called 907 law against Azerbaijan. nobody able to sell any army technology to Azerbaijan with US parts in it.. EU took the sanction off only 2-3 years ago so they sell to us instead of Turkey..

Very good overview and useful information.

Truly unfortunate and skewed policy against Azerbaijan by Western countries.

Is there any Turkish AEW&C system under development at the moment? Can any of our Turkish brothers confirm it?

I believe there is no Middle Eastern country except "Israel"/Zionist regime or no OIC country anywhere in the planet that has developed an AEW&C system. I may be wrong and would be glad to stand corrected on this matter.

Is it possible for Azerbaijan to consider purchasing a handful of AEW&C systems from "Israel"/Zionist regime today? Is there any effective embargo from the Swedish government against Azerbaijan in place today? Sweden could also provide a good AEW&C radar from Ericsson probably.
