I happened to hit the local fresh produce market yesterday and heard a seller calling "fresh zucchini from Crete" in Turkish "Girit'ten geldi kabak, Girit kabağı". That same zucchini (dolma kabağı) were sold on many stands and they were dark turquoise color, more green then blue, round and not alongated and the size of a human fist or smaller. I don't remember having seen them before. I was just wondering how the trader guy was thinking people will react. "What is Girit ?", "What part of Turkey is Girit at", "what value does it offer ?", "is it imported ?", "do we also export them ?". I had to keep my thoughts to myself but couldn't help but think "it may be imported for now, just come back next year to see them homegrown".
