Korkut air defense system from Aselsan
Turkish company Aselsan wants to offer Ukraine its own air defense system
The issue of air defense for Ukraine must sooner or later be resolved. In its materials, Defense Express has repeatedly insisted on the urgency and urgency of this problem.
In the context of air defense re-equipment, we talked about
Poland 's
really large-scale plans to upgrade air defense , as well as about the
experience of this country's transition to national systems ; analyzed the
capabilities of foreign systems and talked about the
modernization of their own complexes .
Today, the Armed Forces are equipped with Soviet air defense systems
At the same time, there is now a possibility that we can move from analyzes and talks on the purchase of air defense systems to concrete proposals. As it became known to Defense Express, the Turkish company Aselsan plans to offer Ukraine its short-range air defense system.
The issue will be discussed directly at the Weapons and Security exhibition next week. So what is it about?
The weapon that Turkey plans to present to Ukraine is a 35-mm self-propelled anti-aircraft system Korkut, developed in accordance with NATO standards.
It is designed for air defense of mechanized troops and mobile units, as well as stationary military bases. The system protects the coverage area by performing operations from detection to interception and destruction of targets.
"Aselsan offers the Armed Forces of Ukraine a field-tested air defense system that meets all operational and tactical requirements," the company said in a statement.
Three self-propelled anti-aircraft systems and a command post - the full structure of the Korkut systemThe complete Korkut system consists of three 35-mm self-propelled anti-aircraft systems and one command post. Thanks to its own sensors and software algorithms, this system can operate completely autonomously, and if necessary - under the control of a higher level system.
The command and control machine , which controls three cannon systems, captures and tracks targets using a 3D search radar, and has an integrated "own-alien" threat detection system. Effective range - 70 km.
Interestingly, the control and management functions of this command post can be implemented for other air defense systems.
Self-propelled anti-aircraft complex Korkut
Self-propelled anti-aircraft system Korkut is equipped with a double 35-mm gun Oerlikon KDC-02, manufactured under license by the Turkish company MKEK. Range - 4 km, speed - up to 1100 shots per minute. Additionally, the complex can be armed with a Stinger MANPADS or other system.
Interesting - about ammunition. In addition to the classic types, the Turkish Korkut can also fire 35-mm Air Burst (ATOM) ammunition, developed by Aselsan.
35 mm Air Burst ammunition (ATOM)
According to the developers, these munitions significantly increase the effectiveness of the Korkut complex against a number of modern threats, including cruise missiles, air-to-ground missiles and UAVs, as well as against helicopters and fighters.
What's more, Korkut has an automatic tapeless ammunition delivery mechanism (ALAFM), which provides the unique ability to simultaneously load different types of ammunition into the store and the ability to change the type of ammunition in a short time - in less than 15 seconds.
"The ALAFM mechanism has taken into account all possible safety requirements for loading ammunition into the vehicle," Aselsan said.
Self-propelled anti-aircraft complex Korkut
The self-propelled anti-aircraft system and the command and control vehicle are based on the FNSS ACV-30 armored vehicle - it is floating and can cross rivers and deep waters. Maximum speed on the road - 65 km / h, on water - 6 km / h. It is noted that the Korkut system can effectively fire on the go.
According to Defense Express at Aselsan, in case of purchase of these complexes, the developer offers on-the-job training to provide maximum field support and provides a standard offer to localize the production of the Korkut system in case of a request from the Ukrainian side.
