HURKUS AIR GROUND INTEGRATION AIRCRAFT WILL BE USED IN "PILOT TRAININGS"

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) participated in the International Anatolian Phoenix-2021 exercise held in Konya. The new version of HÜRKUŞ, which is among the original products of Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), organized a flight show, the HÜRKUŞ Air Ground Integration Aircraft (HYEU). HÜRKUŞ HYEU, which attracted attention by making its debut by organizing a flight show for the first time, will be used in the training of pilots.

HÜRKUŞ Air Ground Integration Aircraft (HYEU), which draws attention within the scope of the exercise, is planned to be used in the training activities of the Air Forces Command. Forward Air Controller, Forward Combat Controller and Joint Fire Support Team trainings will be given with HÜRKUŞ HYEU. HÜRKUŞ HYEU, which is called an advanced variant according to the requirements of the 135th fleet, is expected to provide significant advantages with its low cost of use and advanced avionics systems. In addition to the existing advanced features of HÜRKUŞ, HÜRKUŞ HYEU will be able to gradually integrate Electro-Optic / Infrared (EO/IR) camera, laser-guided and unguided training munitions, as well as autopilot.

TUSAŞ General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil said: “HÜRKUŞ HYEU will be used for 'training' purposes, especially in the 135th fleet, in this important exercise, which was held with the participation of the commands of various countries. To explain a little more, our aim with HÜRKUŞ HYEU is to train air and ground elements. We want to make significant contributions to our Air Force Command with the advanced systems and features of HÜRKUŞ HYEU.”

Is there any advantage of Hurkus over UAVs like Akinci or Aksungur(slower as it using diesel engine instead of Turboprop) in operational use?

When you drop glide bombs from a faster plane they will glide further, stand off distance become longer. They should also try making it pilotless which adds little value though when you can drop stand off munition from a long distance.

Exactly my thought. quad on each wing would be somewhere around 160-200 kg right.

Everything in me says it should be possible when I look at that photograph.
I don't know who but (probably a manager or chief from TAI) has told Aksungur may flow with 24 MAM-L with quad release system, after Aksungur has made a flight with 12 bombs.
Now i wonder with + variant, if Anka can fly with 8 bombs thanks to this quad release system.

Also light in weapon load

Given that it is a domestic product. Turkey can adorn it with many minature weapons and outclass it's rivals like A-29 Super Tucano

Interview from SavunmaSanayiIST.

Within the scope of the F-16 Block 30 Structural Improvement Project initiated by the Presidency of Defense Industries in 2015, TAI continues its work successfully. With the project, the flight life of F-16 Block 30 warplanes, which reached 7000 flight hours as of 2016, is increased from 8,000 hours to 12,000 hours.

Bahadır SANALAN, who served as the F-16 Structural Modernization Program Manager at TAI, made the following statement on the subject:
“The Block 30 aircraft we currently have are the oldest F-16 aircraft in the Air Force's inventory. Therefore, they are in need of structural renovation at the moment. Within the scope of this project, we only carry out the structural modernization of Blok 30 aircraft, and we do not carry out any avionic modernization.
In these aircraft, we check the parts that need to be checked, replace the parts that need to be replaced, and repair or strengthen the parts that need to be repaired.
Lockheed Martin produces the structural parts, namely the kits, for this project. We are currently producing some parts such as wing upper panel, wing lower panel and front spar. We attach these parts to the planes and the structural modernization is done.

Under the program, we will modernize 35 aircraft. We have now completed and delivered 6 of them. One is currently awaiting delivery and we currently have 8 planes. Repairs continue on them as well.”
According to the information obtained; Activities within the scope of the F-16 Structural Improvement Project are planned to be completed by 2023.

TuAF clearly wants quick replacement for F-4's.

TFX seems to turn into a pure air superiority fighter, and i really expect that future air to ground missions will done mainly by unmanned aircrafts. Unmanned Air to Air combat with drones needs more time due AI etc. but Air to Ground operations were conducted just "yesterday" with small MALE drones.

But he said there were alternatives for especially F35 not for F-4s.

Let the guessing game begin

- Eurofighter
- Rafale
- Su-35/57
1-TF-X
2- Unmanned combat fighter (what baykar is trying to produce)
3- Foreign aircraft (I believe it is about Pakistan or US due to latest developments)
