Belarus, on behalf of 65 countries, delivered a joint speech on Tuesday at the 47th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council held in Geneva, stressing that respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of all countries and non-interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states are basic norms governing international relations.

The affairs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Tibet Autonomous Region are China's internal affairs, and the outside world should not interfere, according to the statement.

Sixty-five countries support China in implementing "One Country, Two Systems" principle in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the statement added.

The joint statement called for adherence to the principles of the UN Charter and the principles of universality, impartiality, objectivity, and non-selectivity.

The right to independently choose the path of human rights development in light of its national conditions should be fully respected and efforts are needed in promoting and protecting human rights through constructive dialogue and cooperation, the statement said.

Noting its opposition to politicizing and setting double standards on human rights issues, the statement stressed opposing politically motivated groundless accusations against China based on false information and interference in China's internal affairs under the pretext of human rights.

Meanwhile, six members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have collectively sent a letter supporting China's stance, and more than 20 countries are ready to make separate speeches in support of China.

More than 90 countries have expressed their understanding and support for China's legitimate position in various ways.
A Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson commented on the same day that the global support reflects that the attempt to smear China has failed again.

"More than 90 countries made a just appeal at the Human Rights Council, which exposed the false mask of a few Western countries interfering in other countries' internal affairs under the pretext of human rights," said the spokesperson.

"We urge these countries to take a good look in the mirror, reflect deeply and take concrete measures to solve their own serious human rights problems," the spokesperson added, referring to the human rights problems in Western countries like Canada, U.S. and UK.

Since 1971 after US was beaten and China was voted into UN by the member states, China can always rally more countries to support China than those which oppose her in UN. True power of friendship.

More than 90 countries express support to China amid rampant anti-China campaign at UN human rights body

Published: Jun 22, 2021 11:53 PM

More than 90 countries expressed their support and understanding to China's stance and 65 of them clearly opposed interference with China's domestic affairs on its Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Tibet Autonomous Region under the excuse of human rights.

This happened on the second day of the 47th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council on Tuesday after Canada led a group of Western countries to release a joint statement to make groundless accusations of China on Xinjiang related topics.

The confrontations displayed at the UN human rights body show the battle between the truth about Xinjiang and rumors and lies made by the anti-China campaign led by the US and a small group of Western countries including Canada, analysts said.

On behalf of 65 countries, the representative of Belarus made a joint statement on Tuesday, stressing that respecting the sovereignty and integrity of each country is the basic code of international relations, and affairs on Hong Kong, Xinjiang and Tibet are China's domestic affairs, which should not be interfered by outside forces.

The statement by the representative of Belarus also opposed double standards or politicalizing human rights issues. It opposes groundless accusations against China based on disinformation or political purpose; or using human rights as an excuse to interfere in China's domestic affairs.

Aside from the 65 countries, six countries from the Gulf Cooperation Council also sent a message to support China. More than 20 countries plan to deliver separate speeches to support China, making the total number to express understanding and support to China surpassing 90.

The number of countries that have expressed support to China was compared to the joint statement made by Canada on behalf of a group of Western countries, in which it urged China to allow the UN human rights chief to access Xinjiang to look into reports of "more than a million people being unlawfully detained" and some "subjected to "forced labor."

China has refuted rumors on "one million people" being "detained" or the existence of forced labor in its Xinjiang region, calling them a "total lie."

The so-called "genocide" and "forced labor" in Xinjiang are nothing but rumors with ulterior motives and downright lies. Its real purpose is to restrict and contain the development of relevant sectors and companies in China, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian told a press conference on Tuesday.

In contrast to the West's evidence-free accusation, people from Xinjiang also appeared at the Tuesday session to make their voices heard.

Gulnar Wuful, vice-chairperson of the Xinjiang Association for Science and Technology, also gave a video speech at the session of the UNHRC on Tuesday. She said that there have been no violent attacks in Xinjiang for more than four years and the region has enjoyed better economic and social development.

"As a Uygur scholar who has witnessed changes in Xinjiang in recent years, the development of human rights in the region has been witnessed by the international community. No anti-China force can undermine the stability of Xinjiang," said Gulnar.

On behalf of a group of countries, Ambassador Chen Xu, China's Permanent Representative to the UN Office in Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, also said in a joint statement on Tuesday that "We are gravely concerned about baseless accusations by certain countries using human rights as a means to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, severely violating the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, while turning a blind eye to their own serious human rights problems."

Chen noted that some countries, under the pretext of democracy and human rights, want to impose their own values and models on others, and even use human rights as an excuse for military intervention and unilateral coercive measures, which has brought untold sufferings to the people of other countries.

"We also hope that the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) will keep functioning in accordance with GA resolution 48/141 and within the framework of the Charter of the United Nations, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states," said Chen.

There will be more battles against disinformation on China's Xinjiang at this session as the US is coming back to the UNHRC and is wielding its influence to pressure other countries to attack China and to hype related topics to smear China while trying to label China for "genocide," Zhu Ying, deputy director of the National Human Rights Education and Training Base of Southwest University of Political Science and Law, told the Global Times.

Zhu is scheduled to attend a sideline activity at the 47th session in the coming days and together with other Chinese scholars, they will share the truth on China's human rights situation with international experts.

Analysts also noted that under the pressure from the West, the High Commissioner, Michelle Bachelet, talked about China's Xinjiang and Hong Kong topics at the council on Monday, saying that she hopes to visit Xinjiang this year.

Liu Yuyin, spokesman for China's mission to the UN in Geneva, said on Monday that her visit should be a "friendly one" aimed at promoting cooperation "rather than making the so-called 'investigation' under the presumption of guilt."

Lol. US facilitated the replacement of Taiwan with China for the UN seat.
In July, 1971, the United States continued to attempt to block the settlement of China's representation in the United Nations. In addition to putting forward a resolution on the "important question" with the Sato Eisaku government of Japan to the 26th UN General Assembly, it cooked up a resolution on "dual representation", namely, accepting the representative of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations but retaining the representation of "the Republic of China" in it. In response to this open attempt to create "two Chinas" in the United Nations by the United States, the Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a solemn statement on August 29. It was pointed out in the statement that to restore the lawful rights of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations and expel the Chiang Kai-shek clique from the United Nations were two inseparable aspects of the same question and that China would never allow the creation of "two Chinas" or "one China, one Taiwan" in the United Nations.

On October 25, the 26th UN General Assembly rejected the "important question" resolution with 59 votes against, 55 votes for and 15 abstentions. It proceeded to pass with an overwhelming majority of votes(76 votes for, 35 votes against and 17 abstentions) a resolution sponsored by Albania, Algeria and other 21 countries, which decided to restore all the lawful rights of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations and immediately expel the representatives of the Kuomintang clique from the United Nations and all its affiliated agencies. This is the famous UN General Assembly Resolution No. 2758, which brought about a thorough and fair settlement of China's representation in the United Nations politically, legally and procedurally.

The restoration of China's lawful rights by the 26th UN General Assembly represented a major victory won on this issue through protracted struggle by China and many justice upholding third world countries and other countries. It was a major breakthrough in China's diplomacy and marked the complete failure of the anti-China forces in their attempt to block the restoration of the lawful rights of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations.

On 25 October 1971, the United States moved that a separate vote be taken on the provisions in the resolution "to expel forthwith the representatives of Chiang Kai-shek from the place which they unlawfully occupied at the United Nations and in all the organizations related to it" in the draft resolution. By this the United States was proposing that while the credentials of the PRC representatives would be accepted and the PRC would be seated as China's representative with a seat on the Security Council, the ROC would continue to enjoy representation in the General Assembly. The proposition was legally untenable.[48

This proposal was shot down by Chna's freinds in UN, much to US disappointment, in senior Bush's (then UN representiative of US) autobiography he said he still remembered the names of those states who backtracked their support in the last moment for US.

Haha - go and complain to Putin.
Why we complain? Russia always supports us like this time. Only 3 countries matter the most in today's global geopolitics, China, Russia and US, China and Russia are close friends, US is being isolated and deemed an enemy by the other two.

Point being the US was trying to accomadate China in the first place as the negotiations between Nixon and the Chinese had already begun.

Haha, China doesn't matter, India does. India, US and Russia decide the future of the world.
Lol. It's not binary - but I can see why you constantly have to bring India into a thread which has nothing to do with India because of Chinese insecurities

You jumped in this thread and asked me who told me that China is a world power, actually many global polls show this fact but I don't bother to post those polls here, you are here to challenge this fact and accuse me of insecurity, what a joke. So if China isn't , it must be India I guess.

As I said, I did not bring India into this thread, you did. That may be a result of some deep rooted insecurity in China. But that's your axe to grind, not mine.

You jumped into my thread and challenged something which is almost like common sense in today's world, who has deep rooted insecurity and an axe to grind?
