Indonesia adds 31,189 daily cases in another record spike

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia witnessed another record increase in daily coronavirus infections, with 31,189 cases reported on Tuesday, which took the total tally to 2,345,018, according to the COVID-19 Response Task Force.
Jakarta reported the highest single-day rise in cases at 9,439, followed by West Java (7,239) and Central Java (4,048).
Meanwhile, 15,863 people recovered from the infection across the country on Tuesday, bringing the total recoveries to 1,958,553. Jakarta recorded the highest daily recoveries at 6,100.
With 728 people succumbing to the virus, the death toll climbed to 61,868. Central java recorded the highest number of daily deaths at 232.

The number of active cases, or patients receiving treatment or conducting self-isolation, increased by 14,598 to reach 324,597, the task force reported.
The number of suspected cases stood at 86,969. The figure was based on the result of tests conducted on 183,053 specimens obtained from 136,765 people at laboratories across Indonesia.
Currently, the daily positivity rate is pegged at 41.55 percent for specimens and 22.80 percent for people.
