German warship searches Libya-bound Turkish freighter

Germany violated international rules by "search without the captain or the Turkish government's permission to board. "

- Turkey can sue Germany at international courts.
- Retaliate in a similar fashion, boarding German vessels at the international waters.

Turkey should do a tit for tat if diplomatic channel doesn't produce a result.

Hypocrisy should always be called out and acted upon as quick as possible....nip it in bud as far as possible....it should not be let to build up and fester and become some new normal.

German arrogance and supremacy thinking at max we need to send something with these ships and be extra harsh on them else these people will think they are right and good people

Turkish Ministery of Foreign Affairs has summoned the German, Italian, and EU representatives and issued diplomatic notes to each of them protesting the behaviour as totally unacceptable.

German authorities are as of yet still silent except for a meagre statement by deputy MFA. The media on the other hand are at it again attacking Turkey.

Fun fact:
After stopping the ship around 15:30 and boarding it illegally at 19:05, Turkish veto came short after so they had to halt the search citing to have not found any illegal shipment.
The German SF have requested to stay on the ship until the next morning for inability to evacuate via helo due to darkness!!!! :ROFLMAO: they were allowed to stay.
Awkward!

Can you kindly translate it for the mortals?
In short :

1. Strict rules for inspection on high sea , permission of flag state should be taken.
2. Prolonging of the mission for 4 months in the Political and Sec. Comm. of the EU.

Probably it has nothing to do with Germans, although captain of the German ship hasn't followed procedures but simply instructions from IRINI mission's headquarters which is now in command of Greeks.

That's what German foreign ministry claims. That the German ship Hamburg was the one available in that area and it was just being used as a tool.
Basically: "ve vere chust folloving orders!" kind of situation. :p

Headquarter is still in Italy.

Turkey will probably do the same, sending Commandos, halting Greek and German ships in our straits and hopefully go to the court.

But most importantly according to the Montreux convention Turkey can close the straits if it feels threatened and that action of the Germans was nothing but piracy and "covered" attack against the Turkish Republic.

Imagine the Turkish Navy send Commandos on German and Greek merchantships after they passed Suez and entered International waters, that would be a outcry all over Europe.

That's what they'll want because it'll make it easier to get support for sanctions.

I think it's better to keep this card for other times. Let's see for instance after 8.december when EU has held their meetings.

I know ret. adm. say we should answer in kind quick and fast, but why give up on such a prized act of piracy.

Keep it alive on take it to the right places, even UN.

Exactly dont forget it, I would for example make another refugee push and this time send Turkish soldiers over the border to make a safe passage for the refugees. Escalate.
