There are rumors that Fitzpatrick (one of the most pro-Ukrainian Republicans) voted no on the Big Beautiful Bill in part because of Ukraine aid, but there's a bit more to it than that. Fitzpatrick is in a very contested district and the Big Beautiful Bill is quite unpopular. Voting no on it will help him preserve his seat, and in the end his vote was not necessary for its passing. Nonetheless, his no vote was shocking, and he reportedly left Congress in a hurry after casting it, while Johnson and other representatives searched for him to convince him to change his vote. I don't know which other representatives demanded additional military aid to Ukraine in exchange for their votes, and the article doesn't actually mention anything about it.The Wall Street Journal is reporting that in order to secure votes for the "Big Beautiful Bill" pro-Ukrainian Senators and Congressmen quietly demanded additional military aid for Ukraine behind the scenes. Apparently the Trump administration agreed and will start quietly sending weapons to Ukraine again, behind the scenes.
WSJ, citing multiple sources, is reporting that the White House has requested that the Pentagon prepare a new Patriot Battery for Ukraine from the U.S. existing inventory. The Americans are reportedly also working with European countries to facilitate the transfer of another European system as well.
2 additional Patriot Batteries would bring Ukraine to at least 10 in total... We know the following have been donated so far.
Germany: 3 Batteries
USA: 3 Batteries
Romania/ Norway
: 1 Battery
Israel: At least 1 Battery
USA: 1 Battery pending
European Union: 1 Battery pending
