Total budget, R&D, experience matter
Short Wave InfraRed(SWIR) spectral imager is good at detecting difference between materials and penetrating fog and mist.
DAS can act as both MAWS and IRST. I think form factor of meshed detector will be same.
Not necessarily it depends upon requirement , the IRST that we are developing works in SWIR + MWIR region. Though IRST carries some extra sensors such as day camera and LRF but DAS can be upgraded with dual band detectors.
