It's economy of scale, when you have more of something the prices of parts and supplies will just decrease.

I agree, I'm just saying that buying into either the Scorpene or 214 (which are both used by our neighbor's navies) screams more about hanky-panky and parade military mindset than ACTUAL defense planning.

I doubt it. CAATSA is a bipartisan act, and started after Obama introduced the idea after the annexation of Crimea. There has been no actionable hints by the USG about a CAATSA waiver, so I doubt MenHan would take the risk.

I am very much into the idea that it's better to just go with either the KSS-III or the DSME 2000 if the AL wants a better design. Other than commonality you have to realize that much of the tooling we have received for the Nagapasas can likely be reused.

A lot of it is just down to production capacity, can Indonesian suppliers create NIR treated clothing? Are they willing to fund studies on PPE gear? There's a lot of factors involved when it comes to issued personal equipment. A lot of peer countries outsource development and production to...

Never mind logistical nightmare, I don't even see the budget that they currently have even allowing them to be able to operate all three together at the same time. The Flankers are notorious money pits. And the for the next few years it's going to take a lot of money for the Euro triangles to...

    Indonesia’s impulsive arms trade

I was going to say something but I think everyone else has pretty much hit the mark. What Indonesian policy-makers fails to realize is that you can't simply jump from making tactical transporter to fighter jets. The only 2 countries that actively have their own indigenous 5th gen programs are...
