    Live Conflict Ukraine-Russia War

On the topic of Cyprus, I would like to mention that it was Turkey that made two proposals for unification. As far as I am aware Greece has made no such proposals.

Developments in Nuclear Weapons Around the World

I treat George Friedman's prognostications with a heavy dose of skepticism but I agreed with what he said about everyone and their grandmother having easy access to nuclear technology or knowledge on how to acquire/build it by the mid-century. You can't kept this cat in the bag forever. At this...

TR Aftermath of the earthquakes in Turkey's South-east

You have to understand that most people have their own problems they need to resolve. They don't really want to think about every little aspect of acquiring living accommodation, they want to place their trust in the fact that the builder, real estate agent or government authority in charge of...

Why do you talk about "chance" as though this is some kind of once in a million opportunity? If anything it's the opposition trying to stop Erdogan seizing the chance to delay the election possibly indefinitely. Also why do you insist that the opposition wants to return Turkey to pre-2000s era...

Looting reminds me of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Was nowhere near as deadly but the government response was also fairly sloppy. Police and volunteers are also pretty restrained in violence against looters and criminals, I would have expected several of them to be in WAY worse shape.

TR Aftermath of the earthquakes in Turkey's South-east

This is silly, military is absolutely needed down there to keep order and assist in rescue efforts. There are already reports of looting and violence, there needs to be law enforcement officials on-site to prevent chaos.

Do you actually have a source for those comments being Ukrainians, it could just as well be some edgy dipshits from 4chan.

No, conservative Americans just aren't aware of who Enes Kanter is. While "conservative" politicians are basically all sellouts.

They didn't say eight times the number of people had died, they said the death toll COULD increase eight-fold depending on how bad the circumstances get back when the estimated number of dead was around 2000. That puts the worst possible death toll at around 16000 according to WHO estimations...

@Mehmed Ali, enough. If you have a personal problem with @Can't think of a Name then sort it out in private messages. Do you have a source? There was also a 3.8 magnitude one in New York just now. Also to all Turkish users, please post any reputable links to donate money or supplies.

Gentlemen, this thread is for casual, easygoing chit-chat, let's not turn it into a place for heated religious debate. We can create separate threads for that. Without naming names, I would also like to call for respect for each other's religious beliefs. I haven't seen anything that crosses...

No country in the world has fixed their demographic issues by becoming an immigration country, they have only made their problems worse. The reason people don't have many kids is because it is difficult with an increasingly worse economy and public services. I see in in the US, now imagine it...

Mil Intelligence US alleges Chinese spy balloon flew over sensitive military sites

Oh goody, we finally put it down after letting it hover in US airspace for what, 2 days? I'm not sure how seriously I can take a guy claiming that these balloons are difficult to spot when people on the ground could literally see it.

Mekteb and Mualim, yes. Vilayet, I only heard it used twice and it's not very common AFAIK. Most people tend to use rayon (from Russian райо́н) instead, at least in Baku, though that may not be the case with younger generations who grew up on Turkish TV (Azerbaijani TV is sadly complete garbage...

"How to destroy an Abrams tank." With ATGMs, drones, artillery and mines. And praying that your opposition is stupid enough to drive their tanks into ambushes without infantry scouting and support. There, I just saved you having to watch the video. A tank is a tank, Russian analysts aren't...

Toe be fair The Sun isn't exactly a shining example of journalism and there were publications in the British press detailing horrors inflicted upon Turkish Cypriots as well. "bring to Canada from countries where they are at risk" Given how Canadian politics are nowadays, I don't think Uyghurs will be much safer from the CCP there than anywhere else. China is too big to be the next Saddam. They are the "Big Bad" of US foreign policy or so it would appear. Saddam...
