The Soviet military had a lot of high ranking Armenian military staff. When the Union collapsed they led the Armenians against Azerbaijan, who back then had no war experience. Now things have changed.

Gentlemen, let's please stay on topic. I know you guys are trying to prove some points to one another, but it's derailing the thread. Let's just focus on the conflict.

Nothing will change until Armenia abandons the occupied lands. Azerbaijan knows that if it stops the offensive the the whole effort will be for nothing. A ceasefire will help Armenia save face. But for Azerbaijan, continuing until Armenia surrenders is the logical choice at this point.
