Canada Navy Surface Combatant (CSC) Program

Hi folks! Here is the latest update as of 04 March 2022 for the CSC Type 26 Frigate weapons & systems design. Notice that the number of MK 41 VLS Cells has been dropped to 24 Cells vice 32. Also the mast is much taller. The crew size seems to have increased as well from 204 to 208 personnel...

Did not know that about John Browns Body Joe. There was an actual John Brown I believe that was living during the American Civil War though. Nice to know.

I did not know that the torp mag on the British Type 26 was only for their EH 101's. Canada would never have an ASW ship Torp Mag that could not fire Torps from both on-board and for our "new" CH 148's. Our Halifax class has always had that capability.

Both my wife and I sing and it sure is a lot of fun & passes the time. We don't go so much now because of the "Gas" prices. We are at $1.77 per liter (CAD) and the Americans are up to over $5 US and ..... "they're" complaining? Diesel is at almost $2 per litre!!!

Hi Nilgiri!. Funny you should mention "Barrett's Privateers" as I am a "not so great singer & musician and have sung that song many times at various Country Jams & Jamborees around the Province and always get a kick out of the audiences response. Cheers mate!;)

You would have thought that if this GCS ship was an ASW frigate, that space would have been included for a Torpedo mag for the MK 54 in it's initial design? The SPY 7 V1 radar by the way is not nearly as heavy as the Aussie CEAFAR or the SPY 6 V1 although the mast being extended on the CSC...

Canada Navy Surface Combatant (CSC) Program

I'm sure this will all become clearer once the design phase is finished. IMOO, the CSC Frigate would be much better off with the 32 VLS canisters whether they were "filled" or not.😁

Yes, I see that graphic on the navy.forces.gc.ca CSC Fact Sheet but only as an "Alternate" fact sheet and as I said this particular graphic is not on any Lockheed Martin website that I can find. The only Fact Sheet that I know of is the LM one that still has 32 MK 41 VLS Cells and another change...

Canada Navy A WAKE-UP CALL FOR CANADA-RETHINKING OUR ARCTIC SSN POLICIES

Hello Nilgiri! Could not agree more with your comments. To say that Russia's dis-information warfare tactics WRT Ukraine is spilling over to it's designs on Canada's Arctic waters is obvious to anyone who has at least half a brain (except for our political leaders). Cheers!!

A WAKEUP CALL FOR CANADA-RETHINKING OUR ARCTIC SSN POLICIES "This is an opinion piece by the author for forum members only and not to be shared on any other media" The Canadian Arctic has become a contested and militarized arena where states within the region and beyond are attempting to...

I had not posted that info on CNR before. I happen to be a member of CNR much longer than I have been on DefenceHub and have written several articles for their magazine in the past. What and when I post on CNR for the forum members to comment on is neither here nor there and should not be...

A Case For The Canadian Arleigh Burke "Flt IV"

All the "issues" you talk about Ted, I have thought about before, but there are no problems that can't be solved if we have the vision to solve them. I take it then you would have no problems with the "concept" of building ABs in Canada though to give Canada a true AAW/AsuW capability and...

Navy In Dire Need Of A Clear Canadian SSN Submarine Replacement Policy

This is something that may very well be in the works and "part" of the solution for our north however is not the "final" answer. SSNs are still the only way to find out who else is freely roaming our Canadian Arctic and give others "pause".

Canada considers increasing military aid to Ukraine

Russia must be "snickering" to themselves thinking that whatever Canada says or "considers" will have any impact at all by Putin WRT Ukraine. However NATO may have to decide soon to "sink or swim" and the US will have to decide what action or response will be enough to make Russia back off as...

Canada considers increasing military aid to Ukraine

Canada cannot even remotely attend to our own national disasters (BC Floods) let alone more troops for Ukraine. Seriously, another "ship" for the Black Sea and more aging CF 18 Hornets for Romania? Let's face facts. Our military is "broken" and "under-funded by the Liberal government (by...
