Defence Q&A Is the Iranian army really strong enough to invade Azerbaijan? Will Turkey allow this?

Iran is upset because Azerbaijan freeing around 90% of Karabakh means that Iran's black market economy, particularly smuggling, is going to take a huge hit (we've caught dozens of Iranian drug smugglers on the border since the war). They are even opposed to any Azerbaijan/Armenia or...

This is going to be another 2016 in the lead-up to the 2023 election, isn't it? Sometimes I understand why French people beheaded Louis XIV and Marie Antoinette.

Congratulations to Bangladesh. Nuclear power really is the future, boggles the mind why so many greens screech about clean power but always propose insanely inefficient half-way measures like solar and wind as the ultimate solution and go ballistic at the mention of the n-word.

"It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission." Seems oddly relevant to the situation the TAF is right now. Sometimes, what you need is a bit of rebel spirit and confidence. Within limits, of course, but I think Turkey has some room to work with here.

Defence Q&A Do Bullpups have a future?

As Nein mentioned, the main advantage of bullpups is in close combat situations as their lighter frame and shorter length allows for quicker and steadier aim. I think bullpups may completely replace SMGs as time goes on since less recoil means they can be more accurately fired on-the-go but...

Defence Q&A Is the Iranian army really strong enough to invade Azerbaijan? Will Turkey allow this?

So Iran has started playing their proxy game in Azerbaijan now. Fortunately, one of the few things our government is really good at is flushing out foreign agitators. Iran has tried this strategy before, apparently they haven't learned a thing. Or maybe they are just a one-trick pony.

That's true for pretty much any foreign technology. They all have backdoors and limitations on usage. Even Turkey, I'm pretty sure, doesn't give out TB2s without guarantees that they won't be used against Turkey itself. It's also a poor argument because then pro-US commenters can simply say...

Not necessarily, they get experience overseas and then you could get them back with some tempting incentives for career progression. Of course it would be a lot better if Turkey's educational institutions and work opportunities were good enough not to require the nation's best and brightest to...

Defence Q&A Is the Iranian army really strong enough to invade Azerbaijan? Will Turkey allow this?

What's Hezbollah going to do? Accidentally blow up a quarter of Beirut again because they forgot where they were storing explosives? And be sure to send double the forces if invading Azerbaijan. Gonna need to make up for 50% of your army getting hit by friendly fire before you even cross the Araz.

Defence Q&A Is the Iranian army really strong enough to invade Azerbaijan? Will Turkey allow this?

Elcibey was an idiot of the highest caliber but Iran has made hostile movements towards Azerbaijan all on its own as well. In fact, one of the reasons why Azerbaijan got friendly with Israel was because Iran became a mutually hostile neighbor. And I actually wish nothing but the best for the...

Because Israel has an agreement with the US that they HAVE to buy American-made weapons in order to keep cash flowing into the US. People who talk about America being under the thumb of Israel or whatever ignore that a) the US doesn't just provide foreign aid to Israel but many other countries...

I wish there were more developers looking into the feasibility of FPS/RTS hybrid games. Guide your troops and direct artillery strikes like it's Company of Heroes one moment and then jump into the thick of the action like it's Medal of Honor the next.

Where are the losses cited from? Syria, Libya, Nagorno-Karabakh or all three? In NK, only 2 were lost IIRC, 1 due to malfunction and 1 due to flying too low. In Syria, I don't know. In Libya, I heard somewhere around 19 but that was from pro-Russian sources and even they admit that this was...

Turkey slams Macron for describing Ottoman rule in Algeria as colonialism

I've literally spoken to Algerians who dislike the Ottomans because they didn't stay and defend Algeria against the French. France is by far more hated among Algerians than the Ottomans ever were.

Air-Force Turkey asks U.S. to buy 40 F-16 jets to upgrade Air Force

US dependency won't end with TF-X because Turkey has no experience in that area. I don't know why so many on this forum think that Turkey just needs to hold out long enough to start developing its own native systems. By the time the TF-X comes out, it will still be heavily outdated and Turkey...

Air-Force Turkey asks U.S. to buy 40 F-16 jets to upgrade Air Force

Might not be true but I have heard before that Turkey's purchase of S-400 was basically blackmail by Russia to avoid certain details coming out about the government and to avoid Turkey having to enter a full-on war against Russia in Syria. It honestly makes more sense to me now than whatever...
