US says they did not ask for a joint group set up to discuss s400 and f35 issues.
But Turkey’s FM tells that they have come to an agreement with US to set up a joint working group regarding s400.
who is telling the thruth?
A solution such as you describe above will give US , even if it is restricted, quite a bit of control over our military activities.
But the whole case is like a double edged razor. Difficult to handle!
But the solution lies in good relations with Israel and clever diplomacy.
Yes it is great news and reaffirmation of what we were hearing. I will be even happier when there is the news that RR is ready and developing an engine for TFX.
As far as I know A quantity of Hisar A systems did enter service. But serial production stopped. It has been upgraded to Hisar A+ with higher altitudes and longer range. Now hisarA+ is being produced.
Another development worth mentioning is the Karagoz System.
This is a Zeplin type balloon that is placed about 500m high and tethered to the ground with cable connection to the balloon’s electronic systems. it’s main job is to look out for aerial threats and pass it to ground units.
In a battle...
A400 planes have been taking equipment to Libya during the course of last few days. On Turkish forums it is claimed that they are supposed to be taking HisarA+ Systems. As many as 6 flights have been realised. If true this is the first time Turkish made AD systems will be in active war scenes...
Great informative share. Thanks for this and the source addresses too.
1 billion dollars for an engine and 100 billion dollars for development costs! Wow! No one is going to let you have this kind of technology until they have milked you and the rest of the market, dry!
16 YTKB, as the name suggests is actually a literal waters shore patrol ship. It has anti submarine warfare capability. It is not an attack boat. You need a very fast agile attack vessel in the Aegean. YTKB will never fill in those shoes.
But that does not mean YTKB can not be made more...
I wish the Father Coskunoz was still alive. He was a genius in machines and innovation. He would have found a way to produce the right die and press to do the job.
I know Coskunoz have come along way since I remember them (1980 to 1990) . But we do have companies that can produce machines that...
STM and SSB signed a contract for the new “Turkish Style Fast Attack Boat” project.
There should be 4 ships and a further 6 on option to be produced.
Fac55 is the boat chosen with it’s 55 knot max speed. More indigenous equipment will be used and these boats will be the most maneuverable boats...
Buying 10-12 Harriers and operating 6-8 of them from TCG Anadolu would give us experience to operate ship based planes. In the meantime we could be developing a navalised Hurjet. Also it would give good degree of aerial defence to TCG Anadolu.
A TVC ej200 engine can develop over 22000lbf...
Thinking out loud; Wy not run a 50% smaller version of TFX project alongside it? It could be the stealth version of supersonic jet UAV as once suggested by Mr Kotil. (Goksungur).
2 x Motor Sich turbofan AI-22-25F/AI-322F engines for the interim period, could do the job. It has close to 45KN...
You are correct. They did an empty land to air ski jump trial. It managed it in 125 metres. The length of that runway is more than 125 when you measure against complete length of 270m.
They have since then decided to go for a twin engined craft with f414 engines due to weight restrictions for...
Yes quite sure. It’s landing length allowance is around 95 metres. It manages to stop in 87m.
quote:
It took just 87 metres for the jet to come to full halt during the test at the Goa's Shore-Based Test Facility. This was what the Tejas-N needed to replicate out at sea when it landed on the...
I was not talking about a catapult. Indian Hal Tejas takes off with ski lift , without catapult in 125 metres, and lands in 87 m with arresting hooks. Weight of plane etc these are all matters that need to be addressed. I know. But if there is a will there is a way. It took them years to do it...
On paper it was supposed to have :
5 x Aselsan 25mm STOP
2 x Phalanx CIWS
1 x RAM
https://www.defenceturkey.com/en/content/sungur-low-level-air-defense-system-is-ready-to-enter-service-4105
If I recall correctly couple of Phalanx CWIS from old platforms were going to be used. But...
Well! It is not very likely that Mr Kotil has used a wrong word. I have not come across it till now. But;
He may have tried to say :
1: The new engine is bigger than 2 f16 engines,
2: The new engine is as powerful as 2 F16 engines put together,
3: The 2 new engines are bigger/more powerfulthan...
As it stands I can’t see it operating any planes in the short term.
To take the ski lift off the design when building the ship was going to be more expensive than leaving it. So probably because of this it was left. But during the building of the ship f35 idea materialised and the surface of...
If that is the case then you are correct. However as they have also been in the project they could easily produce an engine like F136 if they wanted to. If you look at thousands of planes that British Airways have used over the years, be it Airbus or Boeing they all have RR engines on them. So...
