Let's not forget that NK had an Azeri Turk population of 700.000+ in the 90's compared to around 150.000 Armenians that live(d) there today. So it would have stayed in Azeri Turks hands even if it became autonomous. So nothing would have changed. This is just an attempt to prevent the inevitable.
