Glory and honor to all these fighters of the Greek Revolution of 1821 who lifted the whole of Hellenism on their backs without asking for any military-political axiom or any money, remaining honest and humble until the end of their lives!
THEIR MEMORY IS ETERNAL
Alexander Ypsilantis was the one who gave the impetus for the Greek Revolution. The historical flag of the Sacred Band (1821) is below:
"From my ashes i am reborn"

Can a mod move the OT replies (that gonna start flamewar) to another thread, that would be great.

This thread should simply be expressing good will to Greece independence day...for those that want to.

lads don't be like twitter melts who hijack everything to make it about themselves. There's a time and place for every discussion.

Honestly Turkish independance is in 2023.

Mark my words Greeks and Armenians are going to make it about themselves with their genocide bs and poison it very badly.

They do this so many times its best we make their celebrations toxic. What goes around comes around.

Do not start with who started the genocides because we will want days to analyze them. This topic refers to the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution. I do not think it is legitimate to refer to the dark pages of history. All of you finally accept that massacres and looting took place on both sides. In the Siege of Tripolitsa (1821) 10,000-12,000 Turkish & Jewish civilians were ruthlessly slaughtered. There is nothing heroic about this, nor does it honor the Greek Revolution of 1821. However, these massacres do not in any way diminish the heroic struggle waged by Hellenism against the Ottoman Empire. In several cases in the Greek Revolution of 1821 starred Albanians (Arvanites) and Turkish revolutionaries who were opposed to the current power of the Sultan alongside the Greek revolutionaries. There were Greeks (the high-ranking officials) in the Greek Orthodox Church and in the Maritime Trade where at the beginning of the Greek Revolution they were completely opposed to it, showing a clear preference for the current situation so as not to lose their administrative and financial privileges.
