KABUL: At least 228Taliban were killed and 116 others wounded in operations conducted by the Afghan security forces within past 24 hours across the country, defense ministry said on Saturday.


The ministry said in a statement that the raids were carried out in Logar, Paktika, Kandahar, Herat, Badghis, Farah, Balkh, Helmand and Kapisa provinces, in which 228 insurgents were killed and 116 others wounded..


13 rounds of mines placed by the Taliban to target the security forces and civilians were discovered and defused, the statement added.


A large amount of weapons and ammunitions of the enemy were destroyed during the clashes, the statement said.


This come as Taliban has intensified their attacks across the country by capturing more districts centers amid the withdrawal of international forces.

These statements are often exaggerated and lacks evidence. these daily "killed 100 Talibs" statements are useless as the Taliban is capturing district after district by the hour.
