Who do you think we are us we don't have enough money for more than 400 active fighter jets unless you want to buy them and not maintain them. 400 jets would be an decent number of jets more than any other airforce in europe and the middle east we could even rival the russian airforce. plus unmanned systems are also coming which would be cheaper
While Türkiye's current economic situation is challenging, its location on energy and trade routes means it will undoubtedly have a strong economy in the future. Consequently, it must possess a powerful air force to maintain the balance of power in the region. Otherwise, we cannot even protect the natural gas basins in the Black Sea, let alone the Mediterranean. An investment plan for the air force should be detailed starting today for the future.

Turkey should upgrade all its F-16s to the Özgür-2 level and purchase approximately 120 EF-2000s. This will not affect the number of Kaan fighter jets we will produce, because Turkey is not a country that will be satisfied with 400 or 500 aircraft.

That is a very assumptious estimation, with all the F16's and F4's we have never surpassed 300 fighter jets, and frankly I do not believe we will even go above 200 in the future.

With 5th and later 6th generation the shift is going to fighter jets with "loyal wingman drones" = less manned jets with more impact

Thus going for 120 EF would curb significantly the numbers of Kaan, I would not like to see that to be honest.

Frankly, I estimated these figures based on our expansion into Africa and Asia, considering the potential air bases we will open in countries with which we will cooperate in the future. But your statements are worth considering.

However, it's also true that once at least 100 Kaan aircraft are produced, at least 200 loyal wingman drones will be produced for them. Therefore, I estimate that our number of manned and unmanned combat aircraft could easily reach 500, what do you think ?

I think with unmanned yes, since other countries will also bank on unmanned fighter jets.

Having our own ANKA and Kizilelma is a big plus for us.

A prediction is already forming in my mind. Would it be too dreamy if we made a list for 2030?

20/40 Kaan
240 F16 Özgür2
40/80 EF2000 T3/4
50/70 Hürjet
50/100 Kızılelma
30/50 Anka3/4

Approx 500+

We will also have Akıncı squadrons that we can configure for air-to-air missions.

We are not going to have 40 Kaan by 2030, even in the best case scenario and trying to use Akıncı for a2a combat would be like trying to use bicycle to fight a tank. And Hürjet is trainer first, we don't even know if its light attack version will be ready by then; not that it would matter, it will always be inferior to proper fighters whether 4th gen or 5th.

We won't have 40 or 80 EF's by 2030 too

Goddamn.

This number is hard to sell, but was expected. It's a deal like none other, with expedited training and delivery schedule.
"There are several reasons why the agreement package is so high:
-Acquisition of a new aircraft infrastructure,
-Providing logistical support for aircraft acquired from outside the United Kingdom (Qatar and Oman),
-Procuring a large quantity of spare parts and various ammunition,
-Rapidly establishing a training infrastructure,
-Preparing for the possible acquisition of more Eurofighters in the future."

Defence Turk claims total number is 44, from UK and ex Qatari and Omani.

Total of 44 units:
20 from the United Kingdom
12 from Qatar
12 from Oman

That £8 billion probably includes spare parts and modernizations for aircraft from Oman, maybe Qatar also, although I don't know the difference between Qatari Tranche 3A and Tranche 4 Eurofighters.

Probably would've been cheaper to buy 40 new Tranche 4 Eurofighters directly, but it shows you that Turkish Air Force is more concerned with time than money. They need these aircraft urgently.

Here we go, Türkiye will buy 44 Eurofighters. 20 T4 from the UK , 12 T3 from Qatar, and 12 T3 from Oman. There is also an option for another 20 Eurofighter T5. Total cost is up to 10+ billion $ if all options are exercised. Typhoons from Qatar will be delivered immediately. Omani Eurofighters will be refurbished. Brand new T4 Eurofighters will be delivered starting from 2028 with ECRS Mk2 radars. There is no information on how much we will pay to Qatar and Oman.
