Turkish Airlines

Turkish Airlines is the flag carrier of Turkey. As of 2022, it operates scheduled services to 340 destinations in Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa, and the Americas, making it the largest mainline carrier in the world by number of passenger destinations. The airline serves more destinations non-stop from a single airport than any other airline in the world and flies to 126 countries, more than any other airline. With an operational fleet of 24 cargo aircraft, the airline's cargo division Turkish Cargo serves 82 destinations. The airline also operates a low cost subsidiary, AJet. It has been a member of the Star Alliance network since April 1st, 2008.

SunExpress, is a Turkish-German airline based in Antalya. SunExpress was founded in October 1989 as a joint venture between Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa. The airline concentrates on international tourism, domestic Turkish flights to cities in Anatolia, and wet leasing. The total number of SunExpress employees is 5,000.

- THY, which ordered 350 aircraft last year, is making a tripartite agreement with Rolls Royce and Airbus to produce a significant part of this order, which amounts to 70 billion dollars, in Turkey.

The world's largest airlines fly to over 200 cities from their various hubs. With growing fleets and route expansion plans, some airlines are set to grow bigger over the next few years, offering passengers access to even more destinations.
In this article, we will look at the five best international airlines by the number of destinations served. This includes current routes and routes to be launched in the next few months. Carriers in the US and other territories have extensive domestic networks, reaching nearly 300 cities but fewer international destinations. Wherever you want to fly to, the carriers below can take you to nearly every part of the world.

5 Air France​

Part of the Air France-KLM Group and a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance, the French flag carrier is the fifth most internationally connected airline in the world. Already with a robust domestic network, it serves 177 international destinations in 83 countries.

This includes Madagascar and Senegal in Africa, Beijing and New Delhi in Asia, Rome and Stockholm in Europe, Mexico and Denver in North America, as well as Lima and Buenos Aires in South America. With its base at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG), the airline's domestic network includes Toulouse, Lyon, Marseille, Nice, and Bordeaux, to mention a few.
According to data from Cirium, an aviation analytics company, Air France's busiest international route from Paris this year is Geneva (GVA), with 2,666 scheduled flights. This is followed by Amsterdam (AMS), with 2,652, and Barcelona, with 2,125 flights. Its longest international flight from Charles de Gaulle is to Santiago (SCL) at approximately 6,291 NM (11,650 km). This is followed by Buenos Aires (EZE) at 5,980 NM (11,074 km) and Singapore (SIN) at 5,792 NM (10,726 km).

Combined with its subsidiaries like Discover Airlines, Austrian, and Swiss, the group would rank much higher on our list.

The airline flies to Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. Unsurprisingly, it has most of its routes in Europe, connecting the continent's major cities, including London, Paris, Madrid, and Amsterdam. The carrier also serves about 20 destinations in the US.
Its domestic destinations include Munich (MUC), Hamburg (HAM), Berlin (BER), and Düsseldorf (DUS). According to Cirium, Lufthansa's most connected city from Frankfurt this month is Berlin, with 356 scheduled flights (one way). Outside Germany, London is the most connected, with 348 flights. Lufthansa currently has a fleet of 313 aircraft. With 216 more on order, it set to grow even bigger over the next few years.

3 British Airways​

This also includes over 25 destinations in the US, making it one of the largest international operators in the country.
British Airways is one of the few carriers flying to all six inhabited continents - Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, North America, and South America. Its focus is Europe, with more than 50% of its destinations being in the region. Its intercontinental destinations include Atlanta, São Paulo, Cape Town, Sydney, and Tokyo.

It only flies to three continents - Africa, Europe, and Asia, with Europe being its primary focus. The airline constantly opens new routes around the continent, flying passengers to major cities like London and Paris and smaller islands like Gran Canaria and Ponta Delgada.

I remember when I was in IST airport back in 2022. I saw a Turkish A350 but with the Aeroflot livery.

THY got 6 A350s Aeroflot ordered but couldn’t receive due to sanctions in 2022. First 4 was almost ready to be delivered and already painted so they flew with an incomplete Aeroflot livery for few months. If unchanged they still have the Russian seating with more business seats, different than other Turkish A350s.
