Algeria marks anniversary of revolution against French colonial rule

ALGIERS, Algeria
Algeria on Monday commemorated the 67th anniversary of the outbreak of the liberation revolution against French colonial rule amid an unprecedented participation by African countries.

The official celebrations started from the Martyrs’ Memorial in the capital, Algiers, and were attended by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and senior officials.

The Algerian War of Independence took place between 1954 and 1962 and ended with the departure of the French forces after 130 years of occupation.

The Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation also celebrated the occasion with the participation of Mali Parliament Speaker Malik Diaw, who was representing his country’s interim president, Assimi Goita.

Other African figures attending the event included the former President of Mozambique, Joaquim Alberto Chissano, the former Minister of State for Senegal, Abdoulaye Batele, and Samira Nkrumah, the daughter of late Ghanaian leader Kwame Nkrumah.

Also in attendance were Tunisian Foreign Minister Othman Al-Grandi and his Libyan counterpart Najla Al-Manqoush.
In a Twitter post, Al-Manqoush said she was “honored” to take part in such a “historic day.”

Algerian Foreign Ministry spokesman Noureddine Sidi Abed said in televised remarks that Algeria witnessed "intensive diplomatic activity that accompanied the armed struggle" during the colonial period until the country was liberated.
Algeria represents the most recent and bloodiest example of France's colonial history on the African continent.

Approximately 1.5 million Algerians were killed and millions more displaced in an eight-year struggle for independence that started in 1954.

France had also committed cultural genocide against Algeria during the colonial era starting in 1830, destroying Algeria's 300-year-old Ottoman history and its own local identity while transforming many cultural and religious monuments in the country.

Paris has never officially apologized to Algeria as a state for its colonial policies.

Shame the French lost Algeria, its annoying for the British and French, they were political abandoned but never defeated in military terms. The last few lines of the post are like what's happening in the UK today under globalism. Congratulations to the Algerians on reclaiming their nation and culture.

For 130 years, Algerians never accepted French occupation and culture. The evident proof is that the Algerians never left their religion Islam to convert to Catholicism. It is then more correct to recognize that it is shame for France to have invaded Algeria. Blinded by their ill placed superiority complex, The French were way too racist and disrespectful of the the cultures they had savagely invaded.

Just read about the Béryl incident
The French army carried out terrible nuclear experiments. These experiments had catastrophic mistakes and damage, not only to the Algerians, but also to the environment, and to Europeans themselves. After these tests The French army didn't clean any thing like the US or British did.
Radioactive sand is still traveling by wind to Europe, and there are even studies on its arrival in North America.
Note : The French Defense Minister Gaston Palewski
died of leukemia years later. This gives you a look at how far behind the safety measures the French were using back then.

Definition of Genocide: "the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group"

Genocide is exactly what France committed against the Algerian people during their 132 year occupation of Algeria.

We Algerian patriots won't rest until International bodies of Human Rights and Justice recognize this horrific fact and indict France for its barbaric acts in Algeria.

Thanks for the support from Algeria leading to the humiliating defeat of French at Dien Bien Phu

------------
Impact from Vietnam
The outbreak of the Indochina War caused France to mobilize a large force of soldiers to fight in Indochina, in which, Algeria and Morocco were the two countries that contributed the most people. However, during nearly 10 years of participating in the war, the Algerian soldiers were strongly influenced by the patriotism of the Vietnamese people, causing many Muslim soldiers to have such rebellious intentions after returning. water. The participation of the Algerian soldiers also worried French officials, due to their sentimental attitude towards the Viet Minh side. This was completely different from the Moroccan soldier, who was quite loyal to France and had almost no support for Vietnam. In addition, the fact that the French did not respect the Algerian soldiers, but instead used Moroccan soldiers to fight the Viet Minh, further aggravated the rift between the French and Algerians.

In Algeria, the successive adverse developments of the French army made many locals disgusted with French rule. Many people even openly voiced their support for Viet Minh and Ho Chi Minh when needed. In the capital Algiers, some Muslim clerics (Imams) have called for a "referendum" and for autonomy.

Dien Bien Phu - the fire that sparked the war
In 1954, the Battle of Dien Bien Phu between France and Vietnam broke out and lasted for two bloody months. Although Dien Bien Phu was fortified and heavily defended, however, with a lack of supply lines and behind the enemy in strategy and tactics, the French fell on May 7, 1954. This event caused a great shock, when for the first time a colonial army defeated a skilled colonial army. This led to the Geneva Conference, in which Vietnam, along with Laos and Cambodia, were considered independent countries.

In Algeria, the humiliating defeat of French at Dien Bien Phu ignited popular anger at French rule. Many Algerians use Vietnam as a model to resist. The impact of the battle of Dien Bien Phu made many French colonies in Africa stalk their independence ambitions, with Algeria being the most affected. In Algiers, many Algerians called for support for independence and the end of French rule there.

President Ho Chi Minh himself later expressed support for the Algerian people.
