Thats what I understood at first but if the production rate will be "1+1+2+4+8" per month each year(like 1st year 1 per month, second year the same, third year 2 per month etc), than 40 powerpack should feed the line for about 3 years unless I misunderstand it completely. Production will be much, much more slower than desired sure but there won't be a need for additional Korean powerpacks.(off course considering the BATU will be ready at 2028)
thats not per year but per month , it says it will be 8/month but at first when factory opens will be gradual invrease 1-1-2-4-8 with mean full capacity will reach 5 month after it is open . 8 per month still low number knowing Altay tank has 15 year delay ,we neeed to produce at leas 12 / month and no export for first 4-5 years .Giving full priority to TSK.
8/month mean 11 years to 1000 tanks or 2036 to finish 😡

This Altay serial production business is some form of gimmickry to me.
Production is to start in 2025. But first tank will join inventory on 30th August. In fact in 2025 they are envisaging delivery of 3 tanks. (Pls read last paragraph of the below article)
So, 1-1-2-4-8 production speed per month won’t reach 8 per month until May/June 2026.
This is going to be a never ending saga.

Although many people believe that the age of MBTs are over, I don’t think we will see the end of tanks yet. Tanks are the driving force of any land assault unit. They will definitely change form though. Their protection system and armour will become even more substantial. Their use in the battlefield will be different. Certain stealth technologies may be applied to them.
To think that almost a million dollar Akkor system with its limited number of missiles, is going to be used against FPV drones is madness. (See below list) There will be other systems to eliminate those drones.
Just like stealth planes becoming the next norm in aerial warfare, tanks with different protection and assault systems will become the norm. They will not be the steel walls that were once used for protecting the infantry, anymore.

With the proliferation of ATGMs and various drones, tanks need to be changed and redesigned in a big way. With the rate we are going with our Altay production, we will be lucky if we can deliver the first 250 units before these changes become imperative. Before we even complete the delivery of the first batch, the need for redesigning Altay may be on the drawing board.

20-30 pieces earmarket for export, so we should look into receiving something like 66 tank a year when it's up and running on max capacity.

Sounds fishy, and I am not sure if the increase in production can be done as mentioned. Also I am not sure if we got export permit for the tanks using SK engine+transmission.

But hey-ho let's see, expectations are rock bottom anyway. RTE can't get shit PR for delivering Altay after all this time. But maybe that's just me.

Then build 4 production plants instead of just 1.

Enough unemployed people waiting for jobs.

Tank production is good for every aspect of the economy. It will lift you up to a higher level as a country.

If Trump is gonna assasinated on monday during te innaguration, we can buy Abram tanks instead till Altay gets serial production.
We can't buy them. If Donald John Trump's head is blown off during his inauguration, the USA will be dragged into a second civil war. The political climate is already more tense than ever due to the wildfires in Los Angeles. Then we can't buy those tanks because they will use them to kill each other!!

If only we could just replace the 12.7 mm on Sarp with something that could use airburst munition and act as CIWS..
Was gonna say the same thing, would be nice if they could (if structurally it is possible) reaplce the 12.7mm with 20mm ATOM. The Tank already has radars for AKKOR, they could use it to detect drones and use the 20mm gun with ATOM as the Hard-Kill instead of wasting AKKOR for it.

In theory, we have (and actively use on other platforms) everything we need to make a short range CIWS for land platforms.

We have few radar systems that we use that could detect drones and other munitions, I don't know if sensors on Altay can detect drones from a distance, but if they can't perhaps we could adapt one of those radars to use with Altay.

Aselsan Sarp (and other remote weapon systems) have auto tracking option, as far as I can remember. So we are covered in that regard. And, Gökdeniz can auto-engage targets, so Aselsan has that capability as well. They also have ATOM 35 and 25 mm and I think it was mentioned they were going to make 30 or 20 (or both) as well. So, we either have the munition ready or we know that it can be developed.

Between MKE and others, we know we can make any calibre barrel we need. Perhaps we can use shorter barrels, to help with remote turret adaptation and since it is primarily a self defence weapon, loss of range wouldn't really be important, as long as we can keep it to something like 1 km. Even Venom LR could be an option here.

The question is, can all these hardware and software we have or use in other systems be put together to make a compact (preferably only slightly larger than Sarp Altay has now) CIWS system that we can use with airburst munitions primarily against drones? No fucking idea, but I really hope we can.
