I really wish for Turkey to develop a hybrid engine for the Altay tank. Just look at how smooth and quiet the Chinese tanks are with their hybrid engine

I think the future of warfare involving heavy machinery such as tanks and howitzers will sooner or later revolve around hybrid and electric engines technology with China appearing to be leading the race rn

China can produce thousands of these. There should also be a heavier 50-55 tonne class version with a 120mm cannon. While we are losing time with the 70-tonne Altay, China comes up with mass producible next-generation tanks.

They touted the August 30 line for months in all media in official interviews and pundits, even national media.

Let's get something clear, delivering 3 tanks to the army was never anything more than a token show of belief in the project, a way of saying "things being put on the right track". You can't do anything with 3 tanks, they are not supported by any infrastructure, training regimens or other support equipment; none of those were to be delivered today, just 3 tanks.

It baffles me that they couldn't even deliver that.

Enough with badmouthing, making the tank is neither important at this day and age nor a priority. Turkish industry has matured to make a state of the art tank and what day you get the deliveries is not anything critical. You get the tanks within a comfortable delivery schedule and always up to date. If you had received tanks earlier they would have been obsolete by now.

If that tank factory does not start mass production within 2025 and 3 prototype tanks are not delivered in the configuration of the mass-produced tanks, then I will be the ONE talking with badmouthing!

Enough is enough!!!

All the pressure and embarrassment would have been completely unnecessary if 200 K2 Black Thunder tanks had not been ordered from South Korea from the outset. This would have allowed the Altay T2 to be developed at a leisurely pace until 2030, while at the same time building up production capacity so that around 50-100 tanks (including for export) could be manufactured annually from 2030 onwards.
Realistically, Turkey only needs around 500-600 modern heavy battle tanks and around 1,000 light tanks.
The era of heavy tanks is coming to an end in the 21st century—today, networked, light, and agile tanks with good range and firepower, integrated Sungur VSHORAD, and several kamikaze FPV drones with high explosive power are crucial.
In the 21st century, rapid intervention and very fast troop movements to accompany air defense systems and create A2/AD are a must.

You're utterly brainwashed. So blind in your "support" that you cannot even criticize bad decisions and wasted millions and millions. This is not patriotism, a patriot would want the best for their country and criticize those in power when necessary instead of trying to belly dance their way to finding a way to deflect blame.

If you were around the end of WWI and worshipped the Sultan this way you'd have been making excuses for him, listing why it was good for him to surrender the entire country to keep his wealth and would be calling the heroes that freed us from foreign invasion traitors.

Shame on you.

At this point, it’s really hard not to feel like something’s seriously wrong with the Altay. Like you said, they could’ve just announced that the tanks are in service. Even if they’re not fully ready yet, as long as they met the basic requirements, that would’ve been fine( like what we did with the Ataks)

They couldn't even do that.

I join @Zafer abi on this. We are finally getting Altay's and yes, there are a lot to criticize about Altay project from day 0 but today is not the day for it. Today, let's be happy for having the Altay as a top tier mbt and congratulate our engineers. Think about it, would you be happy if you saw bad comments in the forum after delivering 3 Altay's as an engineer?

There is time for badmouthing and there is time for making the day for everyone who worked day and night for it. I guess it won't be hard for anyone to understand which one is today.
