Just a quick question so this post wouldn't be a sh*tpost:

How long do you guys think we can create our AI library for aerial combat? The plane should have 100s of 1000s of hours of flight data consisting of different circumstances etc. Am I wrong? How much of that process can be solved in a simulation environment i.e. digitally?

I want Kızılelma to dogfight so bad...
It will take years but the underlying tech is there already:

Also note the top comment in that vid is what Kizilelma will soon be:

Now imagine if the same Unmanned Aircraft was a 20-30G maneuver capable air frame and not limited by a conventional manned 9-12G air frame... scary.

Looks like the TB3 has hit the assembly line.. It may be a TB2S, and the SACTOM radar has been minimized,
but I guess it's TB3

With regards to Turkish company "Zyrone Dynamics" as previously mentioned in thread:

News from IDEF:

India's DCM Shriram buys 30% stake in Turkish drone maker

DCM Shriram is investing $1 million in Zyrone Dynamics

drone.jpg

DCM Shriram signed a partnership deal with Turkey's Zyrone Dynamics on the sidelines of the International Defense Industries Fair (IDEF) in Istanbul.

DCM Shriram is investing $1 million in Zyrone Dynamics, taking a 30 per cent stake in the company. Murat Kanber, co-founder of Zyrone Dynamics, was quoted by Turkey's Anadolu Agency as saying, "Both sides’ expectation is the creation of products for civilian use, especially for cargo transportation... Now Zyrone will sell its products to India and its neighbors in the Asian market, after which it also hopes to export drones to Europe and Australia."

Speaking on behalf of DCM Shriram, Rudra Shriram said "The partnership is more than just an investment; it is about creating a global UAV company for various applications in civilian and military fields."

Zyrone Dynamics specialises in the manufacture of small rotary-wing drones. Zyrone Dynamics has been promoting small drones that it calls 'variable volume' UAVs.

Going by the website, seems to be an up-and-coming company. Probably wise to invest at this stage itself from an economic perspective.

From the 30% stake, looks like transfers will be happening soon:

According to the report, Zyrone Dynamics, which produces UAV technologies with its advanced technologies, is preparing for the first product delivery to India.

The company will also make demo flights for the defence tenders in India in March 2022, and is making plans to expand to Far East countries via India, the report says.

===================================

This Turkish UAV company (Zyrone Dynamics) and its equity stake acquisition by DCM Shriram found mention by its President when he was in recent feature interview at Indian channel.

From about 23.00 minute mark for those interested:

Has also been posted in IND defence export thread.

The larger interview is about IPR acquisition, manufacturing and current trajectories of Indian defence sector production and exports.

Kuwait is on the Baykar customers map. Marked as TB2 customer for now but it is more likely both TB2 and Akıncı.

At the very beginning of the process, the late Özdemir Bayraktar offered to transfer all know-how and these studies to the army and to support it to the end. But our state institutions were not interested in this. In fact, the book containing critical data on the systems developed by the company was given to SSM despite the warning of retired Colonel Cemal Öksüz, then Head of the Aircraft Engineering Department at the Air Force Academy. Later, this critical information fell into the hands of other people and the company was subsequently threatened in this way.

As we delve into the company's history, a different struggle emerges from every corner. I truly believe that Baykar's rise to the position you have shared the map of above was only possible with God's help. Under normal circumstances, this company should have disappeared years ago.

What entails 'system identification tests' and this is still the 1st prototype right?
System identification test is for validating design specifications, aircraft flight performance; to know the dynamics of the aircraft.

The on board flight test instrumentation provides the data which will be used to model the dynamics of the aircraft.

This is the 1st prototype.

Bayraktar TB3 Makes Its First (Simulated) Flight in HAVELSAN's Malazgirt

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think Malazgirt is more exciting news than it first seems. Having a high quality, physically accurate simulation platform will be an excellent asset for the Turkish Armed Forces. For instance, since this platform has high visual fidelity (looks like they're using Unreal Engine 5), it can be used to generate synthetic training data for aircraft identification. I doubt there are high quality labelled datasets of the Dassault Rafale in all sorts of positions, weather and lighting conditions, distances and liveries.

Furthermore, if this software is able to emulate the flight characteristics and avionics of Turkish-designed UCAVs and pit their AIs against real pilots or themselves, you could theoretically use something like reinforcement learning to teach them how to dogfight better.

It's also sweet that there's reportedly a watered down civilian version in the works. HAVELSAN has decades of simulation experience. DCS, eat your heart out!

interesting company....

how indigenous is the robot? and do we know anything about the company because i never heard about AVCI SAVUNMA A.Ş, but I did hear that a Turkish company called Ankinrobotics has been working on a robot dog for years, but the project doesn't seem to be up to the level of other robotics companies across the globe.
