Ongoing construction work at BAF's forward base Sheikh Hasina.

Latest satellite images of BAF base Sheikh Hasina. The tarmac was supposed to be completed in 2020-21 FY but it'll take additional two or more year (likely to end in 2023). Looks like there are hangars for at least 15 jet/other aircraft (L-18 meters, W-29-30 meters) and two C-130J size aircraft (L- 39 meters, W-55 meters). Forgot to add, during a ministers visit it was reported that the new MRCA will be deployed here.

Better end up having T-129, J-10 and Gripen for now. At the end we'll probably see J-10 flying in BAF camo.

Bangladesh doesn't seem to have many conflicting interest with China, J-10 doesn't seem to be a bad choice.

Although I think the F-16 (V) still offers the best option for the he future BAF fighter fleet.

Just curious if Bangladesh is interested in using its fighters for interceptor duties with limited a2g role or a true multirole fighter with heavy emphasis on A2G PGM load.

AFAIK MRCA will be multi-role and single engine MMRCA will be interceptor.

So far the main problem is politics.

do you think any progress (wrt to UAV procurement ) was made during his recent visit to Turkey ?

May be. Looks like the news about Wing Long II was a hoax. Anka didn't qualify before because of the clause for export success in three countries outside Turkey but now it can be selected. (Falco isn't part of the MALE UCAV program)

But judging by the photos, it looks like chief was focused on MRCA, basic trainer and MRAP/LAV. We've requirements for all three.

Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, along with his spouse and three entourages left Dhaka for Canada on Sunday for an official visit.

During the visit, he will call on President and CEO of Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) Bobby Kwon and Assistant Deputy Minister of Global Affairs of Canada Paul Thoppil.

In the meetings, they will exchange views on bilateral issues of mutual interest, said an ISPR press release.

The Air Force Chief will also visit the aerospace engineering and maintenance institute "CASCADE Aerospace", "MAXCRAFT Avionics Facilities" and "HELIWELDERS Canada Facility".

During this visit, he will see the progress of the BAF C-130B aircraft which is now under overhauling process at "CASCADE Aerospace".

Besides, he will also visit "Bell Helicopter Facility" and "Advantech Wireless Technology Ltd Facility" in Ottawa.

The visit of the BAF chief will hopefully play a vital role in the maintenance of BAF aircraft and helicopters as well as expand the scope of cooperation in professional sectors between the two countries.

He is scheduled to return home on 23 June.
