ARES Shipyard, which has made a name for itself with the success it has achieved in the field of export, signed a memorandum of understanding with ASFAT during the IDEF 2021 defence exhibition in Turkey for the patrol ship requirement of the Bangladesh Coast Guard Command. It was stated that this cooperation agreement, which forms the basis of a government-to-government (G2G) export contract, will be implemented as soon as possible.

The platforms that the company focused on promoting at the fair were ARES 150 HERCULES Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) and ARES 95 FAMB (Fast Attack Missile Boat / Assault Boat).

ARES 150 HERCULES, 48 m long, can reach speeds of 40 knots per hour. Built using full vacuum infusion technology and composite material, the ship can operate up to 6 sea states. Having a cruising range of 1,600 nautical miles, ARES 150 HERCULES does not need a potable water supply during the mission, as it has a reverse osmosis system. To be used against conventional and asymmetric threats on the ship equipped with various electro-optical sensors; There is 1 GUARDIAN and 2 STAMP remote-controlled weapon systems. 30 mm automatic cannon on the GUARD; On the STAMP, there is a 12.7 mm machine gun. In addition, 2 ARES 24 HARPOON Emergency Response Boats can be deployed on the stern of the ship for the use of special operations teams.

Özgün Utku Alanç, General Manager of ARES Shipyard, underlines that ARES 150 HERCULES, which was selected as the World’s Best Offshore Patrol Ship in 2018 by a foreign media organisation, is also the largest composite hulled offshore patrol ship ever built in Turkey.

ARES 95 FAMB, which is designed as a new generation gunboat to perform hit-and-run missions that require high speed and maneuverability, can carry guided missiles. This 29 m long and aluminum hull ship has a top speed of 50 knots per hour. The ship can be equipped with remote-controlled weapon systems with automatic cannons for its own close defense and firing at ground targets. The ARES 95 FAMB platform is especially is suitable for European, African, and Middle Eastern countries and this was evinced by the representatives of the naval forces who showed great attention to it during the IDEF 2021 defence exhibition. Stating that the ARES 95 FAMB platform has the same firepower as a conventional gunboat, Alanç points out that this platform is a much more cost-effective solution, considering the initial supply costs, life cycle costs, and personnel requirements

Bangladesh is getting all kind of military equipment with no strings attached. I hope that BD will be able to challenge Myanmar in the future.

In a report about ongoing projects in 2020, BCG mentioned that four OPVs will be procured. So i expect two vessels for each design.

I don't know why Defseca is thinking that the second design is ARES 95 FAMB. The CEO said it's a 50+ meters OPV so it should be ARES 55 OPV.

we need to build up and modernise our forces in a short time like Azerbaijan. Who knows, maybe we can submit some Turkish drone compilation hitting burmese Pantsir on youtube in the future.
ARES 95 FAMB (Fast Attack Missile Boat / Assault Boat).

Any idea on what the Missile armament are ?

Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) is planning to replace four coastal patrol vessels (CPV) and five Pabna class riverine patrol vessels (RPV).

A bit correction. There will be two types of vessels to replace these. ☝️ (Check previous threads. ☝️). So don't think all will be based on ARES 150.

Bangladesh Coast Guard plans to procure 9 of the ARES 150, which is preparing to embark on its second export voyage.

Within the scope of the Bangladesh ARES 150 HERCULES Program, where technology transfer is also aimed, it is emphasized that the first ship will be built at ARES Shipyard facilities in Antalya, and the remaining 8 ships will be built in Bangladesh.

Ares 150 is made of carbon fibre composite material ? ToT in this area will be quite beneficial.

Our's will be steel hull. Probably with aluminium superstructure.
I don't think they can convert a composite boat into a metal one 1 to 1.

And i also have thought about this since the beginning*, even sources have claimed 150, i was and still expecting ARES 55 -65 or FBP 138 hulls and fast interceptor boats on board of these.

*It is quite hard to provide a ToT on composite boat of this size even if the experience and facilities exist at the destination. Not because it is highly sophisticated but it highly relies on the masters on the field than the know-how of the engineers, thus the culture needs to transferred via construction of more than a single boat in Turkey.

Can vouch for that. Buddy of mine many years ago was responsible for setting up vacuum bag lay up composite facility in our university (that he mentored me and couple others in how to do best etc, and we likewise passed on things). This was the early days, now it has grown into a lot more....but it takes time to transfer this know how well even at our scale.

Well, that's what GM & CEO of ARES said. ☝️ The 40+ meters variant is a new design based on ARES 150 but the hull and superstructure is steel and aluminium.

That was my bad.
Also i happen to forget that Ares 150 actually has two aluminum made versions;
Ares 150 SAT & Ares 150 FAMB. So that wouldn't take them a long time to offer those designs.

So Khulna Shipyard is gonna build those 8 vessels.

Well, this is new. I don't know if the ambassador mixed it up with navy's OPV project or not but it's a good news if CDDL really participate in construction of these patrol vessels before moving forward with navy's projects.

"We have proposed technology transfer for making petrol boats. If approved, nine petrol boats will be built in the Khulna and Chittagong districts of Bangladesh."
