The Bangladesh navy has received a Dornier Do228 following extensive maintenance, repair and overhaul work in Germany.
The work was conducted by General Atomics AeroTec Systems (GA-ATS) at Oberpfaffenhofen, says GA-ATS.
The extensive programme included a 72-month full-cycle scheduled inspection as well as a 12-year significant item inspection.
“During the maintenance operations, a dedicated team from Bangladesh navy observed the overhaul process on-site the GA-ATS facility,” says the company.
“The personnel visited the workshops and received technical training directly from the Do228 OEM specialists, gaining valuable first-hand experience with the aircraft systems and maintenance procedures.”
A second Bangladeshi Do228 is expected to undergo the work in Oberpfaffenhofen later this year.
The aircraft serve the South Asian nation as maritime patrol platforms.
Cirium, an aviation analytics company, indicates that the Bangladesh navy operates four Do228NG 200s with an average age of 8.5 years.
The Bangladesh navy’s only other aviation assets are four Leonardo Helicopters AW109s.
