Is the U.S. secretly preparing the ultimate successor to the F-22 and F-35?

As global military powers race to field sixth-generation fighter jets, a new contender has emerged: the Boeing F-47. Speculation around its stealth, AI integration, drone control capabilities, and extreme range is heating up. Some analysts believe the F-47 could redefine U.S. air dominance for decades.

I’ve put together a full breakdown on this next-gen marvel, including comparisons to NGAD, Russia’s Su-57M, and China’s J-31.

Would love to hear your thoughts — is the F-47 hype or the real future of U.S. airpower?

I want to emphasize about the timing and the methodology of the announcement of the jet.

It is not argue that the US has the most advanced technology related with a superior fighter jets. This has always been the case. But there were no real competition.

However, today we see so many countries showing how advanced equipment they can out together.

Today China is flying 5th gen jet with 3 engines with a wingless design. This was not the case 20 years ago.

Turkey has small sized wingless unmanned fighter ready for production. They are also developing unmanned fighter jet along with their drone army.

What the US has produced recently is f35, which is a marvel, yet produced jointly. The last marvel produced by the US only is f22, which is an old and very very expensive jet.

It is well known that f35 still have some serious issues regarding the engine, ram coating and processing unit. Many of the issues were resolved years after the pkane is ready to sale.

Now, we see Chinese claimed to be 6th gen jets making test flies for a time. On the other hand what we see from the US side is a modern bomber flew several times and pictures of a so called superb fantastic unparalleled in every aspect f47. This is announced right after Trump assumed the presidency with a claim of "make America great again".

I am not saying US cannot produce such a jet but i won't believe that it is neither ready nor is capable of rendering opponents inconsequential in every aspect, until I see it.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment — you’ve raised several important points regarding the evolving landscape of next-generation fighter jets and global aerospace capabilities.

You're absolutely right that the technological playing field has shifted. Twenty years ago, the U.S. truly had no peer in stealth and air dominance platforms. But today, countries like China and Turkey are indeed demonstrating notable progress in developing advanced unmanned and manned systems — from China’s experimental designs with tailless configurations to Turkey’s ambitious drone and Kızılelma programs.

However, when we discuss platforms like the F-22 and F-35, it’s important to consider not just the hardware but also the software, battlefield integration, logistics, electronic warfare capabilities, and real-world combat data — areas where the U.S. still holds substantial leads. While the F-35 program had its share of challenges, many of the issues have been mitigated through years of iterative upgrades and block improvements, especially with the upcoming TR-3 and Block 4 enhancements.

Regarding the so-called “6th generation” jets, it’s worth noting that many of the current claims (from any country) remain unverifiable and largely based on prototype or conceptual demonstrations. The U.S. NGAD (Next Generation Air Dominance) program, while secretive, is not just about a single aircraft like the rumored “F-47,” but an entire system-of-systems approach — pairing manned stealth fighters with autonomous wingmen, advanced sensors, and network-centric warfare tools.

Skepticism is healthy, and your point about “believing it when we see it” is valid. But given the historical track record of U.S. aerospace development, we should also consider that what is visible publicly is likely just the surface of what’s already in classified testing.

Would love to hear your take on how these developments might impact future airpower balance in regions like the Indo-Pacific or the Middle East.

Unfortunately, there are many hypotheses, but there is little precise information yet.
It seems to have a small wing (duck) in the front part, no? Or maybe it's time to change glasses?
There are several other difficult to reconcile things.
There is no tail, but the speed exceeds 2 Mach.
The sixth generation, as they say, is a fighter of the future, but manned, which is also strange.
I also wanted to know if there are vertical stabilizers at least in the tail part? But it turns out that it doesn't even have a tail :)

(There is also a link to an article about the Bayraktar TB-2.
Is this your article? Very interesting. Thank you!)
