They are small (about one meter), launch from helicopters or vehicles, fly in formation and swoop on the target.

Swarms of drones, launched by dozens of vehicles or helicopters and able to move in formation through artificial intelligence, then hurl themselves on independent targets and explode. It is the new weapon of the People’s Liberation Army, tested in September and filmed in a well-publicized video in the various Beijing media spread globally.

In addition to propaganda, the Dragon has been engaged for years in the development of small unmanned aircraft for military use. Even in the United States (and NATO) the theme is strongly focused, considered among the most relevant areas of the war of the future.

THE STRATEGY

The test on the drone swarm was conducted in September, taken in a video published by the China academy of electronics and information technology (Caeit), a subsidiary of the China Electronics technology group corporation (Cect), one of the public giants working on "disruptive" technologies applied in the military.

According to an "insider" taken from the South China Morning Post, the suicide drone in question is the result of the "civil-military fusion strategy" in Beijing, a strategic approach that proposes the strengthening of collaboration between research, industry and the armed forces.

THE BEIJING DRONES.

The CECT reported already in June 2017 a swarm test of 120 drones at fixed. Four months later, a further test was announced with 200 quadcopters. However, the new video seems more similar to the CH-901, also launched from tubular and first appeared in 2016.
