49 years ago today, the Turkish Armed Forces staged an amphibious landing operation into the island of Cyprus, which resulted in the end of the oppression acted upon the Turkish Cypriots by the Greek Junta regime and the eventual establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
