Crisis on British Nuclear Submarine: Huawei Spy
It was announced that secret documents were found on the Huawei brand phone of sailor Marcus Gauntlett, who was on duty on the Vanguard Class Nuclear Propelled Ballistic Missile Submarine.
Sailor Marcus Gauntlett was serving on a Vanguard Class Submarine equipped with Triden 2 (D5) missiles, which provide the UK’s nuclear deterrent, and located at the HMNB Clyde Nuclear Submarine Base in Faslane, Scotland.
Marcus Gauntlett was taken into custody immediately after the military police found the secret documents on his phone, and it was noteworthy that the brand of the phone the sailor used was Huawei. It is alleged that the phone, which was seized by the military police, contained a lot of information about the submarine’s movements and past missions.
Immediately after the incident, sailors serving throughout the United Kingdom were banned from entering submarines due to fears of espionage.
