As reported by Armadni Noviny, Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) supplied the Czech Republic, through its Czech partners Retia and VTU, with the first air defense Multi-Mission Radar (MMR), following an agreement signed in December 2019 by the Czech and Israeli Ministries of Defense.

The radar, which operates and is combat-tested in Israel, provides surveillance and defense capabilities to customers around the world and is connected to NATO systems. Radar detects and classifies threats and at the same time provides weapons systems with the data needed to neutralize these threats. Thanks to its advanced tracking capabilities, the radar provides accurate and reliable situational awareness, including detection and classification of low-signature targets.

The MMR can handle several tasks at the same time - including air defense against aircraft, and drones, further artillery guidance against various enemy targets, classifying and locating missile launch sites, enemy artillery and mortars, locating both launch site and intended strike site, and controls ground-to-air missiles fired against these threats.

The MMR system is the "brain" of the Israeli Barak MX air and missile defense system, the Iron Dome system and David's Sling system, and to date, more than 150 of these systems have been sold to customers worldwide.

Yoav Tourgeman, IAI Vice President and CEO of ELTA, said: “The IAI, in cooperation with our local Czech partners, delivered these advanced radar systems to the Czech Ministry of Defense on time and in accordance with the project schedule. Despite the challenges that have arisen in the last two years during the COVID-19 pandemic, the project teams, both in Israel and in the Czech Republic, have been able to work together successfully while remaining on the path to joint production. The modern radar, which has now been delivered to the Czech Republic, is able to simultaneously identify and classify hundreds of targets, and identify unmanned platforms, missiles, missiles and other new threats in the operational area. We believe that the system's ability to integrate with NATO systems will bring a new era of operations to the Czech Ministry of Defense. "
