Situations change overnight. If you want to change the situation to your liking you need to be in the game.
There is no falling out and distancing yourself when you have the means to make a difference.
We don't want the Persians to have the upperhand, we don't want the west to be the master to Arabs. We need to be a pillar that Arabs can lean on if we want to protect our interests. The petrol age is coming to a close. It will take less then a couple of decades now. Arabs won't be able to sell petrol to the west and pile up money which in turn they have to deposit in western banks for interest. They will have less money and will not get to save much for banks and US bonds. This means they don't have to find the west as business partners. And the ramifications will be seen in their next choice of friends.
