Head of the National Security Bureau of the Republic of Poland, Paweł Soloch: Poland may be a hub for the production of Turkish drones

Paweł Soloch

The BBN chief's travel program included a visit to Baykar, where he talked about the prospects of cooperation with Polish entities in connection with the selection of Bayraktar TB2 drones by Poland.

- There is a will to establish direct cooperation, Poland could be a hub for cooperation of the entire region - said the head of the BBN.

- Just before leaving, I talked about this topic with the Minister of Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak. President Andrzej Duda is also very interested in this issue - emphasized Soloch.

In May, during the visit of the president and the head of the Ministry of National Defense in Turkey, a contract was signed for the purchase by Poland of four sets with 24 flying cameras that can be used for reconnaissance and combat after arming with guided missiles. On Monday in Warsaw, Błaszczak talked with the president of the company, Haluk Bayraktar, about the implementation of a contract worth nearly USD 270 million.

The most lucrative market is GCC so far Turkey hasnt been really able to penereate except for Qatar somewhat.

US makes so much money of them its crazy.

Because they are not buying the weapons, they are buying diplomacy points and leverage. There are MANY instances where non-American products were much more superior to their American counterparts, yet they still went with the safe bet of American purely for political reasons.

The timing of the defence agreement, the visit to the president and this cargo flight that is not part of the usual Ethiopian Cargo flight schedule. Seems like someone is shopping for another offensive vs the Tigray.

Tb2 will be ordered in such a low number that production in Poland makes only sense if there are other orders. Ukraine alone ordered more afaik.

Let's see what the future will bring. Let the exports flow.

I wouldn't get too cocky yet. Turkish weapons' industry IS growing but it's still a fair bit away from being on the same level of quality. I mean, here in the US, Turkish weapons are currently at best usually synonymous with "affordable but it works" and at worst "cheap c**p that blows up in your face" among the average Joe. Not that Turkey won't reach that level if it keeps trying and pushing but don't count your chickens before they hatch.
Even Turkey's present technological level is not at best level but promising. Also has steadily increasing. But rival countries trying to keep level or declining. Time is passing for us.
Because of brave decisions our shadow is longer than heigth.
In addition to above mentioned; our technological advantage is especially defence industry is so organized and profesionally managed.

HOw good is this company what drones does it make !
Not a frontline company but they develop their own avionics I guess.
I had come to know about this company when I was looking for avionics makers.
They have been around for a number of years with low profile.

Defense Industry Cooperation Agreement was signed with Iraq. The agreement covers the principles of cooperation between the two countries in the field of defense industry by institutionalizing the cooperation between Turkey and Iraq.

The Iraqi F16s have Pratt and Whitney Turbofans though.

> Perhaps we could try to help them in order to keep them operational.

"Earlier this year, the Iraqi Air Force succeeded in getting 23 F-16s airborne over Baghdad for a military parade to commemorate 100 years of the Iraqi Army.
Previous accounts had suggested that less than 20 percent of Iraq’s remaining 34 F-16s were fully airworthy. The latest New York Times report states that “few” of these jets are now still operational."

Drones, Howitzer, Guided Artillery rockets, Air to ground munitions...etc 🤨

I remember the Defense Minister of IRAQ visiting FNSS earlier this year.

"by FNSS to Minister Saadoonn; A presentation was made about the prominent products of the company such as KAPLAN Weapon Carrier Vehicle, PARS Weapon Carrier Vehicle and PARS Tactical Wheeled Armored Vehicle Family, which are preferred by the Turkish Armed Forces and the armed forces of other allied countries.

It was observed that Minister Saadoonn showed great interest in KAPLAN and PARS type Weapon Carrier Vehicles."

Thanks for reminding brother. Iraq is a big country and has a big potential. The rapprochement with Iraq in the field of defense can provide serious gains in terms of exports.

Wow that sucks.
They are not getting serviced because they asked the Americans to leave or what is the reasoning here?

They don't have the infrastructure or the capability to maintain them. As it explains in the article, Iraq heavily relied on American contractors to keep their equipment up and running since there's a lack of experienced engineers that can perform those tasks among the Iraqi military.

Irak AF.PNG

Balad Base, where the Iraqi F16s are stationed.

* Food in the base is not suitable for pilots.
* Pilots do not do any sport, especially no night exercises.
* F16 pilots are used with a "one week at home-one week" rotation.
* Some pilots work at home week on another job.
* Bribes are paid when preparing deployment plans.
* Fuel is stolen from the base.
* Women are brought to the base at night for amusement.

Iraq would be better off having their AF train in Konya under TAF.
