Why u no like us comrade?
Jokes aside, I find the Turkish-Russian relationship very interesting and complicated. S-400s sold to them, but they sell TB2s to a Russian rival.

Akıncı was given to TAI at first, no engine was available to realize it (rather they are forced for either western or local engine) and then it has fallen into hands of Baykar.
SSB had funded it all along if i remember right.
It was really a long time ago so i remember the bits, çaldıran might be used as the demonstration model (i remember as such Selçuk was showing those as a demonstation model before the acquisition and support by SSB). We know Selçuk Bayraktar was closely working in the field during the development so it was not simply funded by themselves ( for TB1 -2)What i found about the TB 2.
> SSB did not fund the TB2.

In 2007, the Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle System Development program was initiated by the Undersecretariat of Defense Industries on a competitive basis (without any R&D support ). As part of this program, the Bayraktar Tactical UAV System's flight tests (fully automatic taxi, take-off, flight, landing, braking and return to the hangar) were exhibited in September-October 2009, and the Bayraktar Tactical UAV System successfully completed all the targeted performance criteria.
Following the test phases, contract negotiations were initiated between the company and the board for 2 Tactical UAV Systems at the Defense Industry Executive Board in January 2010.After the contract was signed in January 2012
SSB mentions of Baykar Makina as the manufacturer and the project manager as (thus i think the owner) SSB.Bayraktar İnsansız Hava Aracı Projesi, Türk Silahlı Kuvvetleri’nin havadan keşif gözetleme ve hedeflerin etkisiz hale getirmesi ihtiyacı doğrultusunda Müsteşarlığımızca yürütülmekte olup, İHA üretimi Baykar Makina tarafından yapılmaktadır.
I say Love and Hate relationship.. depending on situation they are either adversary or partner. No one can claim they are allies, Turkey and Russia are fighting each other through proxies in Syria, Libya and Karabakh.. They are also supporting different sides in Ukraine. S400 was a political move for both.. and compensation for downed jet, killed ambassador.. A way out from problematic F35 dependency.. For Russia it is a tool for weakening NATO in the Southern Flank, keeping Turkey closer.. Opening a new market for defence products. Both countries are natural rivals of each other, it will always be complicated. I hope Baltic countries follow Poland and my be Aksungur and Akıncı find its place. I think we will see Turkish drones and weapons against Russia everywhere, may be bigger drones but Turkey will also keep Russia closer, isn't this looks like occasional cold war? Actually same with USA as well, Turkey was not alone in Libya despite it looks like that and not in Syria, sometimes Turkey Russia, Sometimes USA Turkey. Why u no like us comrade?
