If you have a chance to keep a firearm
as collection,
what kind of firearm & why?

That firearm could be a pistol, rifle, machine gun, etc.

Just bought a Mossberg patriot .308 win , why? For hunting surely

Other reason they are quite cheap, even with all the fuss about permit and license

Mine,
I like Mauser Karabiner 98k,
especially its bullet reloading sound.

If I have that opportunity there would be 3 weapons I would acquire for sure.

First one is Webley-Fosbery automatic revolver due to its rarity and unique recoil system

Second one is Luger (Parabellum) P08 due to its rich history, the fact that it is the first gun with which the modern 9x19mm parabellum caliber was used and the fact that it is the most recognizable design using the Borchardt mechanism

Third one would be a early percussion rifle solution which was very rare and not popular and of which I forgot the name. The interesting part is a cylinder on the side of the rifle which is rotating. The one side of the cylinder is reserved for percussion cap and the other side have an opening for the gun powder. You first rotate the opening upwards and put gun powder in that cylinder (which is also connected to the chamber), then close and rotate the cylinder upside down so the percussion cap comes on top. When you pull the trigger a cock strike the percussion cap which explodes, lights the powder in the cylinder which creates a chain reaction and lights the powder in the chamber. A very interesting, early percussion and rare system.

Any reason to choose this?
Perhaps its design look unique?

Not just the design but how its a cold war weapon like the FN FAL. Not to mention they are overshadowed by the AK and M16.

Also the G3 served a lot of militaries for decades.

Also in BF3 and Far Cry 2 I played with the G3 a lot it just become my favourite gum eventhough its hard to choose a favourite as you have lots of beauties like the G36, FN Scar, M4, AUG, Famas and various others.

In my opinion this riffle can only be used for defending. It's heavy and bulky so it's not a good choice for assault/tactical purpose, but it's very reliable.

HK G3 and FN FAL are heavy hitters not to mention poweful rounds come with heavy recoil.

Greece is already planning on replacing the HK G3 am I right? I remember years ago that the HK G36 was suppose to replace it but it seems a AR Style rifle is going to replace the G3.

Belgium: FN HERSTAL SCAR HSTD & LSTD
Italy: BERETTA ARX200 & 160
