In the occupied part of the Luhansk region, 12 km from the front line, for the first time during the hostilities in the Donbas, the newest Russian complex "Navodchik-2" was discovered, which includes 7 UAVs of the "Granat" type of various modifications with a range of 10, 15, 25 and 100 km. The complex is designed to perform reconnaissance and special tasks, in particular, to provide coordinates for the targets of cannon artillery and MLRS divisions.

The first text materials (without photos) on fixing the ground control station of the Navodchik-2 complex appeared in the OSCE SMM report No. 272/2020 dated November 14, 2020. It said that, according to the updated data of the mission, the sample of equipment, which was indicated in the OSCE SMM report No. 268/2020 of November 10 as "the RB-341В" Leer-3 "electronic warfare system, was later, with a more detailed analysis, identified as a point control of the UAV "Navodchik-2".

The InformNapalm international intelligence community has received visual confirmation of this text information. Thanks to the photo from the UAV, it was possible to confirm that the newest Russian complex "Navodchik-2" is indeed used in Donbas. Three boxes for storing and transporting the UAV were also seen near the control station.

This information is extremely important for expanding the multilingual evidence base of InformNapalm, one of the sections of which is devoted to the fixation of Russian equipment and weapons, which are actively used in the Donbas.

"Navodchik-2" and RB-341V "Leer-3"

It is important to note that unlike the Navodchik-2, which was recorded for the first time in Donbas, the Russian RB-341V Leer-3 complex , which includes three Orlan-10 UAVs, has already been repeatedly spotted in the combat zone at east of Ukraine. He has also been included in InformNapalm OSINT investigations since 2015, and in 2018-2020 he has become quite frequent in reports.OSCE SMM. This type of equipment was also included in the InformNapalm report with evidence of the presence of Russian troops in Donbas, which was presented first by the Ukrainian parliamentary delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Istanbul in 2016, as well as at other international platforms in PACE and OSCE in 2016-2019. Publications about the use of RB-341V Leer-3 in the occupied Donbas with reference to InformNapalm investigations were also published in the German tabloid Bild and on the pages of the Associated Press. Therefore, as an element of the evidence base, this complex is already well known.

Regarding the Navodchik-2 complex, it was mentioned in reports from the combat zone in Donbas only once: in the context of the discovery in April 2017 of the Granat-1 UAV, which is part of this complex, in the region of the Svetlodar arc. However, the detection of this type of UAV is not an absolute proof of the use of the whole complex, because these drones can be used separately. For example, in 2015, InformNapalm recorded the use of the Granat-1 and Granat-2 UAVs by units of the Russian terrorist forces in Donbas. In addition, photographic evidence was found with geolocation on the territory of the Kuzminsky test site of the Rostov region of the Russian Federation, indicating that in December 2014 the Russian Ministry of Defense was training terrorists and taught them to use the UAV "Granat-2" for military operations in the Donbas.

Identification

Considering that the OSCE observers in their daily report at first made a mistake in identifying the equipment, but after a while provided clarifying data, it would not be superfluous to emphasize that a characteristic visual feature of the Navodchik-2 complex is its placement on the basis of the KamAZ-4350 truck (wheel arrangement 4X4), while the Russian RB-341V Leer-3 complex is based on the KamAZ-5350 (6X6 wheel arrangement).

Before Donbass, the Russian Federation actively used the "Navodchik-2" at the 102nd military base in Armenia

The Navodchik-2 complex entered service with the RF Ministry of Defense in 2014. He was immediately transferred to Armenia at the 102nd Russian military base in the city of Gyumri. Since then, information about the use of this complex both in the Russian media and on the official website of the RF Ministry of Defense concerned mainly only Armenia. Only a few times this complex was also mentioned in the context of conducting exercises on the territory of the 4th occupation military base of the Russian Federation, which is deployed in the Tskhinvali region of Georgia.

The complex consists of:

  • ground control station;
  • UAVs of types "Granat-1", "Granat-2", "Granat-3" and "Granat-4" (the complex includes seven UAVs).

Conclusion

This article contains unique and important data, evidence of the ongoing covert military activity of the Russian Federation in the occupied part of the Ukrainian Donbas. The military aggression of the Russian Federation began in the spring of 2014 and continues to this day, despite the public denials of the military-political leadership of the Russian Federation regarding the direct participation and control of hostilities in eastern Ukraine.

The international intelligence community InformNapalm draws the attention of a wide audience, experts, diplomats, journalists, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and representatives of Ukraine to the TCG with a proposal to use the data from the OSCE SMM reports and OSINT materials of InformNapalm investigations to the maximum effect for international diplomatic pressure on the aggressor, to strengthen sanctions and others. political measures that will contribute to the achievement of genuine peace, which is possible only after the withdrawal from the territory of Ukraine of Russian troops, weapons and equipment, soldiers and mercenaries of the Russian Federation, which, of course, is the initiator of a bloody long international conflict in Europe.
