War is diplomacy continued. They have a tiny air force, but have been modernizing their air defence with Chinese help. They have a small but competent army and a large paramilitary force. Kosovo have a much smaller military and lacks armor and artillery save for some number of vehicle based 120mm mortars. It is dependent on KFOR for its security from Serbia and that's why 25 years on, force is still active and manned.

In a time when US is theoretically pulling out, EU is in disarray, Serbia courting the French with the latest Rafale sale, it is possible that there would be a flashpoint. Kosovar TB2s by themselves would offer little against modern long range Chinese SAMs. Who would pass and enforce a no fly zone this time? Could we expect it to pass NATO with Trump on a roll, or EU when French and Greek outlook is in between? No UN action would be coming, that's for sure.

Turkey has a vested interest in Kosovar security and independence, but it doesn't have any mutual defense agreements with Kosovo. Logistics are also iffy. I don't expect a territory grab at this time or anything, but there will be more tension in the area and as Turkey have good relations with both, I think we should offer support and some stability.

Per German media, US is also considering leaving KFOR and pulling its troops from Kosovo. With an unstable and increasingly aggressive Serbia, times will be interesting again in the Balkans.

Ideally we would like sides to just sit down and happily do business, but there might be a time in near future where Turkey will have to get its hands dirty again in the region.

If the US pulls out, Türkiye should lure in the entire Balkans into an economic union. Pretty sure no one wants to side with Russia unless they have to. The US will try to creep back in the post-Trump era, so Türkiye has an opportunity right now where both Russia and the USA will be absent.

The only issue now is what's happening internally with Erdoğan's mass arrests, I don't think we'll have the same appeal we had 5 years ago. It's clear that instability is on the horizon, and I think regional actors are aware of this.

The US withdrawal, Russian setback and Iranian embarrassment present great opportunities to Türkiye, but really doubt we'll capitalize on any of this with Erdoğan at the helm.

To clarify, Serbia's military has seven modern air defence batteries; everything else is old Soviet junk. Once the Rafale is delivered, there will be 28 air defence batteries and 30 fighter jets.

i believe that Turkey could deter Serbian expansionism, especially if it could get other Balkan countries on board, after all nobody wants an expansionist state right on their border.
