<sigh>

That WAS Mozart.

No wonder he drove Salieri up the wall.

great movie....one of those you remember the feeling watching for the first time...
tom hulce's giggle helped inject extra levity lol...

@xenon5434 you watched it all yet after I recommended?

Difficult to pick and choose, but I prefer the Marriage of Figaro, and ONE aria from the Magic Flute.

The Queen of the Night singing her heart-stopping hate speech - OK, make that heart-stopping sound byte.

yah I meant more picking just one "ultimate" among the great composers..

Within Mozart's works....hmmm....*long think* ....I really couldn't pick just one (or even two or three) out of them, ill end up taking the bullet most likely

It all very much depends on my mood at the instance...(though that determines if im even going to listen to mozart or classical at all to begin with I suppose)

I will say I was supremely content (in the more recent modern era) regarding the more recent TRON movie, daft punk* did an excellent tribute adagio to mozarts lacrimosa

lacrimosa probably resonated my deepest nerves the most when I first heard it....especially with the backdrop of that requiem....

I truly believe music is the great purpose of humankind in so many ways....look what and how it captures and lasts....and just the depths it infuses into our souls, visual art stands lesser to that IMO.

* @Vergennes , the french are fairly good at music too... n'est-ce pas?

In many ways she is the gold standard for this aria (and much much more in mozarts repertoire)

But my taste is ever so slightly different....popp hits + sustains those high notes almost too easily... like a literal nightingale
In my preference, there must be a slightest of struggle in a woman's voice to give it the ultimate rich body in listening...

But these are very minor matters of preference in the end.....she is exquisite.

A remix i posted of this wonderful tune more than a year ago.....referencing some of tom hulce giggling in the movie heh:

I was pleasantly surprised to see just how remembered Florence Nightingale still is in Turkey. A number of hospitals etc are named after her.

When they arent scaring the Euros, Turks evoke a curiosity and even inspiration among them too:

The comments at that youtube page lol....

Had to look up this one in my earlier replies....(Reading the larger reply might be of interest Joe et al....)

It is always so sad what war takes away so permanently...that was one sung of so fondly...

....I wonder what one of them thinks when he hears it....

"Mein Schlesierland, mein Heimatland!
So von Natur, Natur in alter Weise,
wir sehn uns wieder, mein Schlesierland
wir sehn uns wieder, mein Heimatland!"

Mein Schlesierland, Op.50 (Mittmann, Paul), 1892

I dont support ddr or communism.

But I really do appreciate their military parades and their mix of Prussian and Soviet military music and parades.
