This Greeks Really İdiot they are ready to spend 2 billion for 2 ship. But they are very great and cheap option for have 4x air defence frigate.

İsrael have a great solution for mekos . Greeks can easily modernaize his hydra's with mf-star aesa like that and barak 8 missiles. They are can use 70-80 km ranged barak-8 mrad with quadpack configuration . But if they dont want him israel can easily integrate 16x 150 km ranged barak-8er launcher behalf of hydra's aft 16x vls's. Also greeks can integrate 8x not burried vls to behalf of front ciws for 32x essm/vl-mica . for 4 ship total cost not more be 1-1.3 billion euro.

Also they can take 8x frigate version of gowind behalf of elli class.

That is the Maharaja Lela-class frigate, its frigate version of gowind. 9.300 km range is very good for asuw frigate , also they have smart-s mk2 radar already we think about use him on our İ class. Also he have vl-mica for self defence. And he have 4.400m unit price. Of course French will give hims more less price to greeks. İf greeks take him 400m euro unit price it's cost will be 3.2billion for 8 ship. + 1.3 billion for hydra aaw upgrade = 4.5 billion max cost for 4x aaw + 8x asuw frigate great fleet. But they try to take 4 ship with the price around 4 billion euro.

@Brave Janissary this isnt about stupidity. Its about reallity for Greece. They cant buy NonEU arms with that 10 billion dollar package. It has to stay in Eurozone. So Israel or other Non European arms supplier is out of question at this time.

Its because of Seahawks. But not 2 billion ı think.

From what I have heard so far, another contract possibly going outside the EU is a procurement of air and ground based Spike-NLOS launchers and missiles (as well as integrating the system to our Apaches).

This guy says that Greece wanted to buy 6 FREMM back in 2009, but this number fell down to 2 due to economic crises, and in 2011 was cancelled when Germany opposed or didn't like that the economic package to save Greece's economy was going to be spent on FREMM.

But what is different now compared to 2011 ? The economic crises caused by the Coronavirus is pretty bad.

All gains the past 8-10 years has been wiped out.

I remember like 20 years ago, ther was a time when Greece was better equipt then us with the weapon shopping program. We did invest in our own projects, 20 years later we are designing our own weapons. Let them buy what they want, should invest in longterm.

they are not blessed with a "long-term". They have to develop different dynamics with Turkey for their own well-being because it wont get better for them, especially with their non-repairable economy.

Now Greece has leverage, despite of finances or pandemic, escalations with Turkey in the region is the leverage, thus EU members will offer/offers better options than before, maybe cheaper with long term credits.
And also, public opinion is more rigid now and people would support arms purchases despite of the crisis, just as Turkish people do.

One must remember the Gas reserves in South of Crete though. If they find large gas reserves over there things could change rapidly.

absolutely not, the times of high energy prices are over- especially in europe so whatever they could find there will not safe their miserable situation and im writing about the country with the highest debt in the world.

More than 4.5 mio Turks live in germany!
What are we waiting for? Organize over social media, culture clubs, mosques..
And do what? Sentiments and taking it personally is so cheap and hilarious, just like Erdogan warned Macron that he's going to deal with him personally, as if Erdogan will sucker punch him at a G20 summit, lol

At some point Greece was looking into acquiring SPICE-2000 bombs from Israel. Don't know if they acquired them or not, but likely.

Do what? Do political influence over Parties. Do influence over media, over mosque, societies, schools, universites. Most Muslims in GER are on our side. Organise demonstrations, strikes..riots like in France. We have lots of opportunities, my sneaky greek friend ;)
Now, you get it.

@Glass you are right about the gas prices and the demand being low at the moment but in the long term it will be lucrative to nations like Greece. Lets be real about this. What does Greece produce ? Nothing apart from Feta Cheese. Turism and Maritime Shipping are their livelyhoods. But if they find a gas deposits in crete and add to their list they will certainly have more money. Thats just a fact.

I think we should be careful when the US and EU starts to discredit the Seville map. I think they are up to something, why else would the US push Egypt to sign a deal with Greece.

So that statement by the US embassy is misleading.
