#OTD in 1943 the last Ram II tank left the Montreal Locomotive Works. These were very progressive tanks for their time, but the Sherman first caught up and then overtook them in quality and in quantity, so there was no point in continuing production. #tanks #history #WW2 #WWII

Today’s “Odd Tank” is the German ‘15cm sIG 33 auf Fahrgestell Panzerkampfwagen III Ausf.H (Sf.)’

Built during WW2, a damaged Panzer III Ausf. H was converted into a self-propelled howitzer and used by the Afrika Korps. Only one example would be created.

The main weapon is a 15cm sIG 33 howitzer.

Today's "Odd Tank" is the American 'M46E1'

Built in the early 1950's, the M46E1 was a pilot tank created by combining the hull of the M46 Patton and the turret of the T42 Medium tank. This would lead to the creation of the M47 Patton. Only one example would be built.
The main armament is a 90mm T119/M36 Gun.

#OTD in 1943 the Kubinka proving grounds completed its report on the Tetrarch tank. This was nearly two years since the first (and last) shipment of Tetrarchs arrived in the USSR. Both the British and Soviet armies considered the tank to be obsolete. #tanks #history #WW2 #WWII
