Custom Made G2 Pindad pistol for her hon. Florence Parly, special order from Prabowo Subianto. His attention toward such detail for gifts is very unique and interesting. This increasing his diplomatic points

Your Astra missile, is it ready for international sale?
Is it compatible with Su30mk2 and 27 skm ?

I think its ready and should be shared with all neighbors which operates similar platforms , if such kind of discussions happen at highest level , I feel we will have far better synergy as far as defense is considered @Nilgiri @Zapper .

Astra can be used as air defense weapons to guard the critical installations and used on ships too

Sometimes I wonder both India and Indonesia are few of most populated countries , if we really work together we can solve a lot of common problems from defense to Health
Su-30MKI is the first fighter jet which has seen the integration of Astra in IAF's fleet. Infact all Astra tests have been carried out from Su-30MKI. Astra is being integrated into other fighter jets in IAF's fleet and will be the mainstay BVRAAM of IAF while Indian Navy has procured them for it's Mig-29 fleet

Currently, the Astra Mk-2 (Dual thrust pulsed rocket motor) is under developmental trails which Astra Mk-3 (Solid fuel ducted ramjet) development has commenced...both being longer range and improved NEZ

In regards to exports...Brahmos, Astra and Akash ADs along with 156 other defence equipment/platforms have been cleared for exports. There were reports of Brahmos sale to other ASEAN countries apart from Philippines including Indonesia and I see no reason for India not to pitch Astra to Indonesia

dont forget to ask the Barak family too

Might as well ask for Brahmos too
Brahmos is being pitched to all ASEAN countries including Indonesia. The best part about recent batches of Brahmos being 90% of components going in are Indian origin from booster, seeker, onboard electronics and guidance systems, airframe etc with the only Russian component being ramjet. Since Indonesia uses Russian equipment anyway, this shouldn't be an issue but the ramjet can be replaced with an indigenous one if CAATSA is an issue

Same goes with Barak family as DRDO is replacing Israeli components with improvised Indian alternatives

13.9 kind of make sense, but please cut it a little bit.
$13.9bn seems high despite additional weapons, training and maintenance facilities. Are there any other aspects included in this deal?

The Rafale financing scheme uses "Pendamping Rupiah Murni" 7.5% of the total contract cost. It will ensure the sales to have lower risk towards Indonesia in this uncertain time.

Only 7.5%? We were talking about 15% RMP for procurement using foreign loan before (I believe @Indos had the general numbers).

This is probably the case of SMI compromising with MoD.

Make sense?

36 Eagle 2 = $13.9 bil
42 Rafale = $8.1 bil.

Both are new platform.

The US jets should be much cheaper compare to the European products, or is it just a myth?
Depend, if we choose PW F100 engines maybe it'll be a bit cheaper.
And looking at Qatar deal (new F15 user too) and we request more advance model, price tag should be around that.

If it's me, I'll just take 24 units.

The difference is even much starker if we include the fact that the French gives us 20% local industry content for our Rafales. The US gives us zero.

It simply doesn't make sense at all. Especially since we're using FMS scheme which should put our price similar to those of USAF's.

We need the number and we need an edge against future adversary . Something that matters just could never be exposed nor disclosed in the public domain without a harsh repercussion .

But , just for a comfort sake . I'll give you this ... 08 was notoriously for his go big or go home creed . Just for that alone i will ease my self over this price tag's debacles and move on .

** I still haven't forgive him over his past involvements tho' .

You know, getting Astra missiles might be a good idea considering it's only half the cost of Meteor, has comparable specs (on paper), and is produced in neighboring India. I don't know the detail regarding integration because it was mostly used on "eastern" platforms, not sure if it can be fitted into all-western fighters (and also KF-21). What do you guys think?

Use it for Flanker only. Stick with meteor for rafale and boramae.
