Prabowo said the additional 12 military radars for the Indonesian Air Force were purchased from the Czech Republic

Indonesian Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto said that an additional 12 military radars for the Indonesian Air Force (AU) were purchased from the Czech Republic.

"If I'm not mistaken, it's from the Czech Republic, yes," said Prabowo after the handover procession of five NC-212i light transport aircraft to the Indonesian Air Force at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta, Tuesday (12/12/2023).

On that occasion, Prabowo also said that a country must have a strong defense.

It is known that the Indonesian Air Force Chief of Staff (KSAU), Marshal TNI Fadjar Prasetyo, revealed that the Indonesian Air Force is planning to procure 25 new radars to be placed at a number of points to strengthen Indonesia's air defense.

"In the future there are plans to procure 13, plus 12, so 25 new radars," said Fadjar when speaking with the editors in chief at TNI AU Headquarters (Mabesau), Cilangkap, East Jakarta, Monday (4/12/2023), quoted from Antaranews.

Fadjar said that the current number of radars does not cover all regions of Indonesia.

Later, a number of radars imported will replace those that are no longer functioning optimally. Then, some will be placed at new points.

Previously, the Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) had ordered 13 long-range Ground Master 400 Alpha (GM400a) radars produced by the French company, Thales, for the needs of the Indonesian Air Force.

"The Ministry of Defense will buy it, and the Indonesian Air Force will operate it later," said Deputy Minister of Defense Muhammad Herindra when met at the Ministry of Defense Office, Central Jakarta on June 19 2023.

In his agreement, Herindra stated that there would be a transfer of technology (ToT) between France and Indonesia.

"Later the ToT will be with PT Len Industri," said Herindra.

Jakarta (26/09) – The famous aerospace and defense company from the United States, Boeing, visited the KKIP office, D.I Building. Panjaitan Ministry of Defense, Central Jakarta on Monday, September 25 2023, at 13.00 WIB. The Boeing delegation was led by Mr. Ian Smith (Senior Manager of Boeing International Strategic Partnerships) and accompanied by Mr. Dale McDowall (BDS VP of Business Development of Southeast Asia), Mr. Zaid Alami (Boeing Country Managing Director), and Mr. Landry Haryo Subianto (Boeing Indonesia Head of ASEAN and Indonesia Government Relations).

Head of Technology Transfer and Offset KKIP, Dr. Yono Reksoprodjo, DIC., received the Boeing delegation directly in the KKIP meeting room, accompanied by KKIP Coordinator Rear Admiral TNI (Ret.) Dr. Mulyadi, S.Pi, and Expert Staff for Budgeting Ir. Gatot Tetuko.

The meeting discussed potential offsets in connection with the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the procurement of F-15 aircraft some time ago. Boeing promises several added values that can be obtained by Indonesia in accordance with the trade compensation scheme, local content and offsets that apply according to the provisions of Indonesian law.

Dr. Yono Reksoprodjo suggested that the beneficiaries of the domestic Boeing partnership be extended to private business entities that have a lot of potential. Another thing that is also of concern is the implementation of Boeing offset pooling in Indonesia.

The meeting was warm between the two parties. The Boeing delegation said that the meeting really answered their information needs. The meeting closed at 15.00 WIB.

I always wonder what will we get from the US for the counter trade/ ToT.
Bit skeptical if we can get significant ToT.
