Take it with a grain of salt.
Well I am going to take it with a grain of salt then pretend if its true.

Now I am going to throw grain of salt and say "now we know the reality of our relation with US". I know its not a done deal yet but I really hope US can show more commitment and less lip service to us. I mean really? CAATSA for SU35 and F16V as replacement? Again both are different platform playing different role tactically and stretegically  This can only mean both relationship is not as great as it looks or for some of us to believe. But its fine, that means we are now aware of the reality of this partnership and can act accordingly. Perhaps more Hercules for US and additional Rafale is more suitable for us 😁

Take it with a grain of salt.

Another batch of NASAMS? to counter DK10 and Pantsir KW from China, hopefully it will include with a full shipment of AMRAAM (and other weapon suites) both for the 15EX, 16E/F and NASAMS

We aren't retiring Flanker. We even buy new Ukrainian missile for them.

Just LM last effort, but seems like US has no problem to give us F15.

Why does it looks like LM is so desperate to sell those Vipers just to cover the RnD cost lol

Anyway, can Ukraine conduct MLU for our Flanker, or do we have to still do it in Byelorussia, i don't know if Ukraine have the means for upgrading Fighters as i have never seen or heard they conduct such kind of activity

They already invest a lot for new facility in Greenville. They need order.

12 F15 EX are is not enough to replace the Sukhoi family, at least it should be the same number or more. Why do they persistent to offer viper while they know that the user wants super eagle?
I heard the plan is for 36 EX
Maybe we buy it the rest for another batch

You know because of the pandemic, those procurement were a bit influenced by our kondisi keuangan

36 planned,

============================

anyway

Indonesia's squadron usually consist of 12 (min) and 16 (max) jets/squadron. So that means that if everything goes as planned, we're going to have 3 squadron worth of F-15.

From what many of you have heard , there will be (IIRC) an F-15 squadron in Pekanbaru and an F-15 squadron in Madiun (14th Sqn). That means we're likely going to raise another F-15 squadron somewhere.....

So our Orbat could be like this:

16th SQN-PKU (16x F-16)
1st and 12th SQN (Pekanbaru & Pontianak) merged for a squadron in Biak (Source:FMP)
New (1) SQN-Pekanbaru (12x F-15)
3rd SQN-Madiun (17x F-16)
11th SQN-Makassar (16x Flankers)
14th SQN-Madiun (12x F-15)
New (1) SQN- ?????? (12x F-15)
15th SQN-Madiun (20x T-50i)
21St SQN-Malang (14x EMB-314)

This not yet putting the Rafales into the equation.
Ameen.

By the way, with Rafale ( planned ) i think we need to have at least one new Air Base or increase the level from what we have now. we can see Madiun and Pekanbaru will has two fighter Sqn there. with Hawk move into Biak , Pontianak could have 2 Sqn. perhaps Manado?
IMHO, those T50i should stationed in Adi Sutjipto ( Maguwo ) than Madiun.

Thoroughly agree.

It's not really promising if they still us "that low". More Rafale would be better if that's the case.

(or just switch to Eurofighters 😁 )

What RnD cost❓ You need to see it from LM position. Compare to their primary competitor (Boeing) LM only have little to offer for export market.

Lockheed Martin exportable portfolio consist of ;
  • C-130J
  • F-16V
  • F-35A
While Boeing exportable portfolio consist of ;
  • AH-64E
  • CH-47F
  • V-22
  • F-15EX
  • F/A-18E/F
  • EA-18G
  • E-7
  • P-8
And Boeing still have their commercial line-up, while LM has no commercial line-up. Doesn't look promising for LM doesn't it❓

Agree. Purely economic reason.

If they can squeeze money out of average Indonesians like us for their junk products, why should they offer their top products?

At least not yet, give the Indonesians all the junk that they have until 15-20 more years. Then they squeeze even a lot more money out of us for their top products.

Ah no wonder LM is so desperate despite all the orders of 16V from Taiwan and ME as well as the F-35 projects from US-aligned countries

is there any possibility for us to replace all our Block 15 OCU with 16V, though if that's possible, and stationing all those old F-16 to maybe patrol duties on our eastern or northern north-western borders (or maybe relegating them to reserve and training purposes)

This R&D cost perhaps?

Tho decission prolly going to be made in 2023 fiscal year, I am not sure if they can squeeze design/build new platform program into their budget. They prolly going to end up upgrading some of their current F16 as the basic idea behind it is fighting asymmetrical warfare that doesnt need full F-35 performance. Either that or they can come up with less sophisticated F35 to do the job. But in the end Sultan mah bebas mau gimana ya gak sih?

That only require little engineering work. What it's need (and most likely will) is a troop of top of the line Intellectual Property specialist LAWYERS + political LOBBYIST.

Lockheed Martin did provide technical assistant for the KF-21 Boramae remember❓ A single engine of KF-21 (one of its early iteration / concept) will fit the bill just fine.

Himars, Javelin, ATACMS, THAAD, Mark 41 VLS, Patriot, Sikorsky aircraft ( Blackhawk, Seahawk, Sea Stallion), Aegis Combat System (including AN Spy series) and many other is our products

There is many thing we can offered (and already offered) to Indonesia actually, including total solution of GCI radar, Patriot, Mark 41 VLS, Himars, counter artillery radar system, ground based jamming signal/COMM system, more Javelin, pods for fighter, helicopters for Naval and utility usage and so on.

F-16 viper is by no mean a junk product really. If people really want to have access to US' 5th and 6th gen platform they should think whether we are ready to publicly proclaim "PRC can go to hell, we love USA!". I

Or KF21 with F35 engine.
I am not sure about that, they are currently still having engine reliability issues with it. But looking at how good and concern they are regarding reliability & safety issue they might fix it before the decission is made.
