If needed (such as fighting against common enemy, Indonesia can allow US bomber to operates from there), no need to be in an alliance and still bebas aktif.

Indonesia-US already have such agreement in non-peaceful situations?

Whose perspectives and what interests determine the common enemy? The US', super powers', or Indonesia's views?

Histories teach that superpowers always imposed who the common enemies were.

Not in my knowledge.

Whoever attack Indonesia and decided to become enemy with Indonesia we should bring their enemy as our friend.
If China start the war in the Pacific theatre/ invading Taiwan/ Clashing against US then Indonesia should keeping the distance from conflict but if China also attack Indonesia then why not cooperating with the US?

We both assume and use word: IF.

How about if we imitate Djibouti, which invites all countries to lease land and build military bases on Natuna Besar Island? :coffee::p

For that exercise to be conducted that's mean both TNI AU and USAF consider that such scenario is possible and they conduct the exercise so they will be more prepared if the real thing happens in the future(hopefully not).

Its good that it can still be of use for Tunisia, spare parts and engine etc we don't need it any more.
Do we need permission from the US for the transfer even tho its a spare parts of old fighter model?
Yes it is, even you need US permission to get rid of those old LST back then

What is your take If Indonesia joined FCAS program? Either as direct participant and as observer first.

As we all know Indonesia already joined KF21 program but it is technically still a fourth plus plus fighter generation and the supposed technological level is not much different from the other fourth and fifth generation fighter other Nations currently employed.

For future consideration (beyond 2035), Indonesia should take it seriously from now on and what kind of concrete way we can take today. And as FCAS is still at developing phase we can trying to leverage our participation and reap benefit preferable in form of research participation and industrial engineering.

Why FCAS?

First, the consortium so far happened to be Indonesian long time partner in Aero industry which is Spain, France and Germany which is Indonesia has considerable lobbying and connection there.

Second, they are trying to build something more advanced compared to even the F35, with the involvement of those three country with so many experience in Aero and Fighter design those target is actually quite achievable and the long time project would act as buffer for the frontier level technology to be matured.

Third, it would be logically an attempt for Indonesia to up the game, especially after Indonesian Air Force actually building much of their C4ISR infrastructure modelled after much of those western European country.
the way i see it, yes it would be great if we able to reach it.
right now KFX only gen 4.5++ and yet we facing a lot of problem about its tech and of course, money

jumping again to make something even more advanced than F-35 (a plane that asked by Indonesia to US and US say that Indonesia is not ready yet for that plane and they offer F16V) is kind a wet dream for Indonesia.

i think focusing to the KFX and learn all those tiny details about making a fighter plane regardless the xx gen would be more important before Indonesia making that jump.
