Which is why I ask this question in Air Force thread. But then again, with all those new fighter procurement, I also doubt there will be enough $ for Air Force Heavy lift. I just hope other agency, particularly BNPB could lease more Chinook, because somehow I've got this weird feeling we're going to need them.

That also what baffle me. I can understand the need for getting rid of our Russian fleet and for Osprey, but why Blackhawk? What's wrong with Caracal?

inter service rivalry, commonality with apache, army more leaning into the US than EU, idk ?
I've once heard that AD's air arms were very dissatisfied/don't trust with PT.DI Performances ... hence they try to stay away from DI as far as they possibly could ... it's not about the platform per se it's the suplier and vendors they had grudges with ...😁😁
But , since the one saying was only a captain ranked and it was a waay long back in my bachelor's year .... Take that with a bucket load of salt .

Oh really..?
If so, I'll ask the question again.. does anyone in this forum know about bu Connie's current concerned towards the current MoD policy? I do really want to know her perspective after meeting directly with MoD..
does she support or stick to her opinion..

Lets hope we wont need it, and also hope that those Caracals are in good readyness state

I think they still do 😁. And also dont discount so much on what the Captain said, sometime the lower the rank the more honest they become. Those bunga melatis rank sometime need to cover up their supperior butt thus not telling the truth or just trying to be on the safe side. Oh I had a chance to take a look at the Bell 412 EPI when I was at Semarang, I love the way she look. I mean to me its kinda old classic design with modern touch outside (lebih monyong dikit utk radar) and inside you can see the beautifull full glass cockpit, pretty cool I must say. And if I recall correctly the one I saw comes with FLIR which makes her even cooler. They already have 2 of those out of contracted 9 unit, I hope PTDI wont miss the delivery date. She sit inside the hangar right beside the Mi17 and oh boy it was like night and day seeing both side by side (design wise). Mi17 just look old but the Mi definetly has thicker body plate (y)

Anyway, is there any gossip or rumours of the Chinook procurement?
Somehow, I got this tingly feeling that we're going to need heavy lift helicopter capability no latter than Q2 next year for disaster relief operation (hopefully I'm wrong)

Postpone, Chinook, Caracal CSAR and AH 64 E for the Air Force would be postpone to give room for priority procurement such as, fighter (as they give budget for Hawk MLU, talking with South Korean for more T/A 50, F15EX and Rafale along with interim fighter planning) along with essentials support unit such as AEW and Aerial Tanker. This coupled with more than 30 new GCI radar station. So with the follow up of such priority, the Heavies procurement planning like supposed plan of A400M and more C130 J is postponed and so with the Helicopters.

But sure if opportunity arise they would touch some of them...

What?

We have many interim program aren't we?

Balkan and A-Stan lesson , for any flight of CSAR units sent into hot area to extract personnel must be accompanied by full pledged Attack Helicopters

And of course Battle of Mogadishu...

Well caracal would be lacking in terms of firepower, but why not teaming up with TNI AD for such mission? Even USAF don't have AH 64.

Even the Army is lacking in number for regular training purpose and regular duty of their own, how they can afford to joint team with the Air Force and spare efforts along with time to do interbranch joint training regularly?

Are they had armored cockpit? Got sufficient rating against anything sort of fifty cal? Those thing can't be slapped into the originally general purpose build helicopters

Btw our H225 is one of the most complete package in the region, just minus several item

Well, no surprise there, and fully understandable

any flight of CSAR units sent into hot area to extract personnel must be accompanied by full pledged Attack Helicopters
Something like this?

We already know that DI need to be fixed any soon. But picking foreign made helo with apple to apple capability doesn't make sense for me.

Other than Army general agenda i couldnt think any other.
Replacing Mi 17 with Caracal already didnt make sense, replacing with Blackhawk more didnt make sense. Especially where the army only buy in small unit. I hope DI get better soon and our national Utility helos will be H 225M

To be honest i was kind in the loop too about all of this ..
Commonality wise dictated for H225 and ditching all of those trobled M17 . It's easier to be said than done but that the logical thinking dictates that ! . Yet , some of the highly speciliazed operation do requires a certain " specc'ed " platform . To be honest .... As a layman , me doesn't put too much thinking about this . My wish is simple ...
Standarized all of light helis to Nbell 412 EP and medium heli into whatever the army wished it to be . yet take them in a substantial numbers and for.a god damn sake !! Be stick with it !! No more funny bussines were allowed ever again . Things are starting to crowded like a flea market in our Army's hanggars today ....
And heavy lifted ..... ??? Well , you know ....
....
..
.
