Chinese EV giant BYD is making bold strides in Indonesia, with plans to complete a massive $1 billion factory in Subang, West Java, by late 2025 and kick off operations in early 2026.
This 126-hectare facility will be the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia, doubling production capacity to 300,000 units annually and focusing on premium Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) and battery production.
Since entering the Indonesian market in mid-2024, BYD has introduced four models to enthusiastic reception and is set to unveil a luxury model on January 22, 2025.
With government support and an expanding EV lineup, BYD is positioning itself as a leader in driving Indonesia’s green energy future.
