According to this article here are some of the items Prabowo plan to buy for each force:

Air Force:
• 36 Rafale
• 36 F-15EX

Army:
• More Leopard 2 MBTs
• 1,200 Carl Gustav anti-tank rifles

Navy:
• 4 Scorpene Submarines
• 2 Gowind Corvettes

are the navy (or mindef) really aiming for gowind class? we already operated similar capability ship in martadinata-class, do we really need to introduce a new class of ship?

i don't like the idea of introducing a new ship class into the navy when we already operated a class of ship similar capability.

better continue the PKR program, any opinion on this?.

yeah , if they wanted to reboot the kornas project , it seems like gowind is a no go , i rather have more martadinata compared to gowind , unless they amped up their offer with something like belharra .

will only make sense if we take account some of the alman statement regarding the aster 30 procurement terms for indonesia , that we need to buy frenchies ship to acquire aster 30 (but it still a very odd terms from french for me).

Is that old leak? Back then when Mr. Prab wants to buy 48 rafale with gowind, i think we aim for heavy frigate in MEF III
some said this was from his (prabowo) presentation with title "perisai trisula nusantara" during his meeting with 1st commission of DPR (People representative council / Parliament)

It's the French who likes to offer whole packages in arms sale. I think it was once leaked the media as whole package so rafale+scorpene+gowind has started to circulate.
Back then gowind didn't make sense, still doesn't.

Again Gowind aren't gonna give much improvement compared to the Sigma's, but as @Anmdt had mentioned earlier, it could be part of a whole arms sales involving Rafale's.

Ps: still bad idea, we need real Frigates. But if we're going to stick with 16xVLS, 8 canister AShM, a ship as big as IH doesn't make that much sense other than an increase in operational costs. Correct me if I'm wrong.

All is back to User costumize request.

If in IH case, that hull still capable to bear 64 VLS with 16 + AShM canister.
With, Smart L in place.

Back in my research of doing economic way.
Plz, dont surprized if the ID version Of IH will be totally downgraded.

Beside i didnt even know wether Navy want/realize what is real frigate is.

Care to tell me where would you fit that 64 Cell? IH has 32 Cell VLS + some half-penetrating modules of ESSM via StanFLEX.

there's a old concept for Royal Canadian Navy bid, that they would place additional VLS on the front, where the second 76mm gun currently are. but i reckon it only good for additional 16 more VLS.

would we, ?? that would be a huge jump in capacity.

or we could spread those 64 VLS on 4 hulls (16VLS each) instead of one. If we go for a 64 VLS config, we'd probably lose all of those capacity in a single clap if we lost the ship.

it's hard to assume until the mockup comes out , especially with the indonesia variants are expected not needing that big ass space for SMART-L long range radar , we can still daydreaming with anykind of setup , don't know yet if our navy or SOE still wanting to go with their 144 meter plan or go with original sovaernet 138 meter specification .

i wonder what module under that half penetrating MK56 VLS that prevent mk41 VLS to be fitted , or it's just the denmark navy preference , if there's still much room under the section of MK56 VLS , for MK41 to able fit in , it's better to go with full 8x6 (48) mk41 VLS setup

Depend on which nomenclature / definition one use, but frigate can generally define as a small size cruiser. And just like the larger full size cruiser their role is to act as multipurpose (Jack of All Trade) including as a command ship

If the condition for us to get french soft loan is to buy french stuff, so be it.
The only Con I have about Gowind is No CIWS.

Let's hope French will allow us to put Aster and Mica on our local IH.

You may as well check price of the CSC project and It is actually Team 31 led by Babcock preparing those designs for UK and Canada,
Which in this case it is OMT on table with Indonesia. For the given price which covers IP rights, production and some items i don't expect an heavy modification.

it's hard to assume until the mockup comes out , especially with the indonesia variants are expected not needing that big ass space for SMART-L long range radar , we can still daydreaming with anykind of setup , don't know yet if our navy or SOE still wanting to go with their 144 meter plan or go with original sovaernet 138 meter specification .

It will be less likely to expand VLS closer to the shells. If i am aware it is usually avoided and it is preferred to keep VLS as centric as possible.
Like @AlphaMike has told A-position can be used for 16 Cells but it is going to require some heavier modifications for 32 cells.

Also in my opinion it is best to go for dual CIWS since Indonesian variant is going to lack Sea Ceptor and MICA does not provide a protection for the very inner layer of self defense. It is more comparable to ESSM in point defense.
I would really opt for a better sensor instead of loading the ship with +32 cells and conducting a heavier modification. Later Indonesia can elongate the hull and work on such modifications for +32 Cells in future class of the ships.
32 Cells means $40-60M to be spared for each ship from scratch, just for missiles. I would spend that extra budger for a better sensor suite consisting of IRST, Dual Radar (X-S band of C-X band combination) or 4-face AESA.

By the way this is my personal view, i am always in favor of a decent self-defense and sensor + ES/W capabilities before than number of the VLS cells.
