It's a not question of who is better . Our whole naval missile system was banking on Exocet do you really wants to add another headache ??? . Should we ever inducted a newer missile for the inventory the only rational choices is NSM . More capable and newer gen of missiles .

Well there many kind of tech that we can ask, one of them is (that is very interesting IMO) is the small jet engine tech. We can ask big or small ToT, some assembling works + manufacturing some parts of the engine etc.
Or other tech that is not that high tech.
I believe we can implement some of it, but we should aim to completely absorb the ToT.

But it depends on how many batteries, missiles that we buy and also how much money we are willing to pay for ToT and also if they are willing to give ToT, dang its not easy.

I think the C705 is failed, and maybe we are trying to make the cheap copy of it on our own, there is pic of it undergone some wind tunnel test. And its unknown if its LACM or Ashm.

Currently Navy has Exocet, C705, C 802, Yakhnot in AShM inventory.

Except its being maintenance free, adding new weapon will cause logistical problem.

If we talking which is better? There'll be a lot of variable to asses an AShM. Such as Subsystem commonilty, price, capability, etc.

IMHO, excocet is quite reliable due to it's semi modular layout that could be upgrade to latest generations, also exocet provide sub launched capability (wich, if am not mistaken Navy want submarine launched missile too). Beside all of Naval main combatant are using exocet MM40 block 2/3, this missile has strong chance to serve IDN Navy for far future.


Teseo otomat also good choice, not to mentions both Exocet & Otomat were manufactured by MBDA. Otomat also can act as Land attack cruise missile.

NSM &Neptune, dont ask me mate. They still far away.
Just like to Localized C 705 proto. NSM only mentioned to be installed on Klewang (wich is not) due to Ludin is Swedish.

bigger calibre also mean a longer interception range , those 76mm DART round are pretty nasty stuff , they act like a guided missile that were fired from cannon .

with a little note, the explosive carry by Exocet amd NSM consider small. Thus make them suite in precise preemptive strike (perhamps to deminished enemy ashore defence system)

This is also prove a main concern. Since its still cheap to saturater 20/25/30 mm cal.

But the good thing is, i think vessel with Otomelara 76 Super rapido gun could have CIWS capability.


Then, how about maestrale class. How much the price tag for each ?
