It still rumour and the navy not decide anything yet. We are discuss about spec and tech each of sub technical advantages, but some student already underlying all should be same as their intepretation of MEF, but IMHO we can do better than MEF, so the discussion may sometime cut short by some term "unproven, or should stick on bla bla.." so I think we still can't create own eviromental discussion, as my self looking for some forum discusstion about ship building
If we read carefully on DRASS DG900 catalogue, I’m guessing that this sub is also capable of doing submarine rescue operations. It can host AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) and SDVs (Swimmer Delivery Vehicles) that can be used for underwater rescue operation.

Aside from the possibility to get a full ToT from the Italian, I think the underwater rescue capability is what MoD & TNI AL is looking for from DG900.

Like dolphin with her lacm, kilo with kalibr, astute tomahawk

Looks cool tho, weapon separation space could provide more space for torpedoes i guess

Looks 'cool' that is the entire point.
Well, if you follow the previous posts/discussion, that's not the point.

There are people who still think that 1000 tons submarine is just a midget submarine and not a "proper" submarine.

That's the point. 1000 tons submarine is still a "proper" submarine. Not only that it has enough 533mm torpedo tubes, you can actually incorporate VLS in 1000 tons submarine. It shows the size and displacement capacity that is far superior than midget sub.

The point about tube-launched missile is the better option than VLS-launched one, or vice versa, is irrelevant and totally different matter.
It is still an obsession if VLS is a criteria to categorize a sub as 'proper sized', it is not only on these posts but i do follow previous posts in the thread as well, people keeps speaking about VLS on Type 218, Type 214, how the sizes allow that.

That sub in fact is a mini-submarine, small-submarine at best i won't refer to that as a proper sub as Type 214-212, 209 (1400).

Because proper Submarine base is only in Surabaya after the Palu Submarine base being destroyed during last earthquake. The other pen is in Tegal (but they are being neglected for decades and one in Natuna and in a place in Papua just recently planned. So it is imperative for the Navy to have long endurance Submarine units.
That is more common sense surabaya-natuna PP, Surabaya-palu PP, or Natuna-Sabang PP, Palu-merauke PP. But Sabang-Merauke PP there are no such route

Never mind about the cool" poin, we know it would be dificult to have the sub with VLS capability, we just enjoy the discusion for the 'posibility', nothing more. But yes we are well a ware what our submarine force future development should gain some poin that our military power should be consider 'balance' betwen the dragon, elephant and kanguru. So we pray and made a wish list here and to the God for a good toy in the future 🚢 ☕

Why you guys are so obsessed with VLS on subs?
Most of the "normal" missiles can be fired via torpedo tube in much simpler way.
The ones to be fired from VLS is totally off-the-league, and never exported.
Yet this is only a mini-submarine.
Because 🇮🇩 never have in History a sophisticated state of the art, super tech toy like that 😁

If i may ask you, wich one you prefer ? A 🇯🇵 Soryu with Li-po or 🇰🇷 KSS III with vls.

annoying neighbour
I think whay you said only stand at pov; the defence of a country aim to protect all of its citizen from incoming threat. Wether creating deterence effect or not its a bonus stuff.

The goal to complete MEF at the end 2024/2025 mandatory to be regain again.

Sophistication is not just a VLS on sub. If i were an Indonesian i would be more dreaming of launching a national cruise missile from a submarine, then doubling its range in the next step.

Both are the same spec-wise, answer is whomever allows more national integration in the future.

The first step would be getting:

First.
That may very well be a few more steps after we manage to successfully develop our own laser / IR / milimeter wave seeker which can utilize either or all of GPS / Glonass / BeiDou / Galileo / NavIC / QZSS or whatever satellite guidance systems currently exist.

Yeah, I know. But I can always dream can't I?

Or we can just start with, again, licensing laser guidance kits for dumb 70mm FFAR as well as GPS based glide kits for dumb bombs.
